School based golf activation model to enrich the lives of youth in San Diego
San Diego, CA – One of the nation’s leading youth sports companies specializing in activating youth through an after-school golf enrichment program has expanded in the state of California. The husband and wife team of Kat Pruchnic and Brandon Schwendeman have acquired the TGA Premier Junior Golf franchise in Central San Diego.
“We are very excited about the continued growth of our golf franchise business across the country and the impact it is having on growing the game and enriching the lives of youth,” said Steve Tanner, TGA chief operating officer. “Kat and Brandon, with their past golf business experience and passion for youth sports, will be a great team to further develop and grow successful TGA programs in the San Diego area.”
Pruchnic is a former production assistant for FOX Sports, NBC Sports, CBS Sports, and TNT working with such premier events as NASCAR, NFL and the Wachovia Open golf tournament. Schwendeman is a native of Southern California and former real estate executive and graphic designer. They are both lifelong golfers who were looking for a business opportunity in the golf industry when they discovered TGA.
“We are so thrilled about the opportunity TGA provides us,” said Pruchnic. “My passion for golf began at the age of two and to now be able to pass that on and teach the game to youth providing life lessons, etiquette, and good sportsmanship together with problem solving and physical activity is very gratifying.”
Pruchnic and Schwendeman are already making an impact in San Diego with TGA programs in 12 area schools in the San Diego Unified School District, North County and La Mesa schools with more coming online soon.
TGA’s five level school based program introduces the lifetime sport of golf to students and enables them to advance from one stage to the next while building confidence and self-esteem. The curriculum is designed to enrich students’ lives through physical activity, health and nutrition, character building initiatives, as well as teaching core academic subjects like math, science, reading and social studies into every lesson.
TGA Premier Junior Golf of Central San Diego is expected to impact thousands of youth annually by introducing the game of golf to children at elementary and middle schools, child care centers and community based organizations through a multi-level enrichment program. TGA will then transition students and families from schools to local partner golf courses through camps and parent-child events, creating new golfers and generating new customers for local golf courses.
“This new opportunity is an exciting way to challenge ourselves and build a successful business that impacts children, the community and grows the game of golf”, said Schwendeman. “To be able to provide these quality programs in the San Diego area is a great opportunity for students, parents, and schools.”
