COLUMBUS, GA September 10, 2013 — Roy Nix, Master Clubfitter and Golf Professional at McNix Golf and Executive Director of the Association of Golf Clubfitting Professionals (AGCP the world leader in the advancement of custom clubfitting and clubmaking) is proud to announce his second book of 2013. Roy’s first book the Amazon best seller “Cracker Jack Clubfitter” explained custom clubfitting in a way anyone could understand it and was written for the golfer. The new book, The Custom Clubfitter & Custom Clubmaker Business Primer, How to Run a Successful Custom Clubfitting and Custom Clubmaking Business is a detailed “how to” book to help clubfitters operate a business more profitably. Both books are in Kindle format Amazon.com, and both will be in printed paperback form, possibly by the time you read this release.
If you own, or if you manage a golf shop, especially a golf shop that does custom club fitting and custom clubmaking this book was written with you in mind. With over 40 years experience in business management and as a Golf Professional and Custom Clubfitting Professional Roy Nix packs all of the knowledge he has learned over the years into one power packed book for you. There is not only a vast amount of personal experience in the book there are also many links in the Kindle edition to web sites that take you into the micro details to explain some of the information written in macro style in the book.
Roy Nix has a truly eclectic background as a Golf Pro. Roy has had several highly successful careers to draw on for experience. He has been a Head Professional at two golf courses, and ran a successful off course golf shop in addition to having been a top producing manufacturer’s representative with a 6 state territory, and started a successful printing and advertising business that his wife runs now that he has all but retired. An AGCP Master of Golf Club Technology & a Golf Digest selection as one of America’s Best 100 Clubfitters in 2011 now only takes a few fitting appointments a month to keep his head in the business while he manages the Association of Golf Clubfitting Professionals and their annual convention.
Over the years, many of the AGCP members have encouraged Roy to write a book about all the ideas he often shares with members on the AGCP private forum. With encouragement from a number of golf clubhead designers and these AGCP members, Roy decided to sit down and put his knowledge on paper for others to share while he underwent a number of medical procedures in 2013 and was unable to work on his fitting business. Now many will have what they asked for a book with all the goodies in one place for easy access.
Tow Wishon Golf Technologies wrote in his monthly newsletter:
It’s been said that the operation of a successful custom clubmaking business is somewhat analogous to an iceberg – the clubmaking skills are the 10% you see above the surface while the 90% below the surface is the Clubmaker’s ability to market, sell, promote and operate the business.
Over the years there have been plenty of books and articles written to teach clubmakers the technical side of clubmaking and Clubfitting. Rarely has there been a collection of such specific information to guide clubmakers in the multiple tasks of how to operate and grow a clubmaking and fitting business. Now there is! And what a incredible resource of information it is and will be for clubmakers who wish to increase their business!
The book, “The Custom Clubfitter Business Primer – How to Run a Successful Custom Clubmaking and Clubfitting Business”, is a must read for any Clubmaker who has been looking for the answers for how to sell more custom fit golf clubs and increase their business.
Written by Roy Nix of McNix Golf in Columbus, Georgia, the book is the culmination of everything Roy and many other successful clubmakers Roy communicates with over the years have learned along the way to building their clubmaking and clubfitting ventures into a successful business.
The Custom Clubfitter Business Primer covers the gauntlet of subjects related to running a successful clubmaking business. The multiple chapters are brief and to the point. Here’s just a sampling of the chapter topics: “Success Begins with Selling, but what are you Selling?”, “Pricing Your Products and Services,” “Don’t Play the Lowest Price Game,” “How to Raise Prices Without Losing Customers,” “Marketing,”, Advertising Radio and TV,” “Websites,” “Educating Golfers, aka Selling,” “Sell a Process, not a Product,” “How to Sell Custom Fit Clubs to Golfers who are Brainwashed by the Big Brand Name Clubs.”
Bill Kelly, an AGCP Master of Golf Club Technology reviewed the book to fellow AGCP members:
“This is a complete overview for success for a custom golf-club business, and it includes sufficient detail to implement the ideas expressed. This book is a single source covering all aspects for establishing a successful and profitable business. Further it is applicable to most any product line that provides for customization for its client base. If you have such a business, do not overlook this “how-to” book. It not only describes how to establish pricing, it backs up the reasons for establishing “fair” pricing. It covers pricing, marketing, advertising, selling and all the other topics associated with building a financially successful custom golf-club business. Finally you can find all of this information in one place. This is one of the most valuable books I have ever read.”
Both books are also in print from and can be found at the AGCP Site in the AGCP Shop Online shopping cart. Http://www.agcpshoponline.com/books.html and the Business Primer can be purchased also from Tom Wishon’s Web site at www.wishongolf.com
Cracker Jack Clubfitter will ship immediately, but the new Business Primer book is in production and should ship sometime in mid September.*
Be prepared to read about what you need to know to be successful. This is not a book that helps you rationalize failed theories and DIY management styles with no basis in business theory. This book could be Business 101 in any college course worth its salt for practical application. Taking all of the best of what has worked for 40 years in his businesses and putting in the format of how to run a golf shop this could be the best hits collection from some of the masters of self improvement over the past 30 or 40 years. If you are familiar with names like Dale Carnegie, Earl Nightingale, Zig Ziglar, Dennis Waitley, Steven Covey and many more like them you will recognize a lot of what this book is all about. Roy has read them, taken their classes, attended their seminars and listened to their recordings enough to quote them off hand in almost any situation, and all translated into real life golf shop, clubfitting analogies that you can recognize and put into practice as you read.
