Golf among women and girls in the United States has grown significantly over the past decade, and the trend is sure to continue thanks to a special partnership.
Amimono USA, a provider of hand-crafted club covers, and LPGA-USGA Girls Golf have partnered to bring more fun to the game while fostering the development of young golfers. A portion of the sales of Amimono’s “Bianca and Friends” head covers will go directly to the program, which reaches more than 10,000 girls each year.
“It’s a great foundation and they have done a great deal to build phenomenal golf programs for girls,” said Amimono USA’s Kim Patel. “It means a lot for us to be a part of it.”
LPGA-USGA Girls Golf, founded in 1989, began with 10 programs and is now in more than 290 communities across the globe. The partnership with Amimono USA was a natural fit, according to LPGA Manager of Programs and Events Ashleigh Anderson.
“We met them at the 2013 PGA Merchandise show and were very impressed with their products,” said Anderson. “We brainstormed a few ideas on how to best introduce their head covers to our members. Bianca and Friends will help raise funds to support our program.”
Of each purchase, $10 goes to the program – enough to sponsor one girl for an entire year.
“They have been wonderful supporters of our program,” Anderson said, adding that Amimono USA was one of the first to receive the “Champions Fore Girls Golf” designation.
The key to Amimono USA’s head covers is in the manufacturing. The 170-product “Ami” line – which, besides Bianca and Friends, includes a dog, octopus, penguin, pig, elephant, bee, cow, frog, and much more – is painstakingly crocheted one at a time. This hands-on approach, combined with the quality of materials, sets Amimono’s products apart from mass-produced covers.
“It’s such a wonderful feeling to see our products being well received among one of the largest growing segments of the golf population,” Patel said. “Our goal is to continue to be seen as a contemporary company that provides high quality products to golf lovers across the United States.”
Anderson said the goal is similar for Girls Golf.
“We certainly envision our head covers being sold in pro shops across the country,” she said, “each generating even more support for Girls Golf and continuing to grow the game for girls around the world.”
