Design-build firm engaged for World Golf Village Resort project
(OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla.) – Tom Hoch – a pioneer in revenue-based design and turn-key, design-build interior architecture – has been selected by Honours Golf to renovate the Slammer and Squire clubhouse at the World Golf Village Resort in St. Augustine, Florida.
Using its proprietary “revenue-based design model” and tapping its 40,000-square-foot studio, the Hoch team will revitalize the 8,000-square-foot space by designing and building furniture, fixtures and equipment. Using a classic theme rooted in traditional, “Grand Floridian” architecture and design, the remodel includes:
• An architecturally-dramatic new social bar will visually anchor a new, authentic 19th Hole pub experience. The space will be refurnished with bar height gathering tables, and comfortable lounge/dining furniture conveying a comfortable, casual and inspirational “club” feel.
• Addition of a private banquet space / dining room (utilizing the existing square footage) for hosting revenue-bolstering special events and functions.
• Art and accessory enhancements to the clubhouse building upon the rich history and character of legendary Sam Snead and Gene Sarazen. New contemporary art will be brought into the design to reflect namesakes’ timeless influence on today’s golfer.
• Transformation of the men’s and women’s locker rooms along with the golf shop.
• Upgrades to the outdoor terrace area delivering a renewed synergy and seamless integration of the interior and exterior food and beverage operations.
“Tom Hoch has an established track record of delivering revenue-driving results and memorable, functional interior spaces,” says Bob Barrett, CEO of Honours Golf. “The clubhouse will be well-positioned for the future and continue to serve as a centerpiece of the Slammer and Squire experience.”
Opened in 1998, Slammer and Squire was designed by Bobby Weed with heavy consultation from both Snead and Sarazen. Generous fairways mix with contoured greens and ample water hazards, and impressive views of the World Golf Hall of Fame are available throughout the layout. The course hosted the Champions Tour’s Liberty Mutual Legends, and numerous other high-profile events and tournaments.
“World Golf Village and Slammer and Squire are cornerstones of the game’s past and present,” says Tom Hoch, president. “We look forward to carrying on, and building upon, their legacies.”
Other recent U.S. and internationally-based Tom Hoch projects include: Camelback Mountain Golf Club, (Carefree, Arizona); The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain (Marana, Arizona); The Members’ Golf Club at The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota (Florida); Farm Links Golf Club (Alabama); Renaissance Golf Club (Massachusetts); TPC Valencia (California); Zavidovo Golf and Lake Resort (Russia); and Tulsa Country Club (Oklahoma); multiple projects with Troon Golf; Apes Hill Club (Barbados); and The Abaco Club (Bahamas).
