ORLANDO, Fla. (Sept. 25, 2013) – Golfweek is expanding its commitment to golf at every level of the game by becoming the official media partner of the National Collegiate Club Golf Association (NCCGA) – a nationwide organization that hosts competitive golf tournaments for non-varsity college golfers. Leveraging its extensive expertise in collegiate golf coverage, Golfweek will shine a spotlight on the players and events driving this grassroots movement toward club-golf teams.
“There are thousands of high school varsity golfers who don’t snag a coveted spot on a college team but still have a strong desire to play at a competitive level,” said Golfweek Publisher Jereme Day. “The National Collegiate Club Golf Association keeps these young players active in the game, and Golfweek is proud to support the efforts of this unique organization.”
Now, college golf enthusiasts can follow all the NCCGA action on a newly launched landing page (Golfweek.com/NCCGA), which features tournament stories, student-written articles, player diaries and direct links to regional scores. And, when the Fall National Championship unfolds Nov. 16-17 at Barefoot Resort in North Myrtle Beach, SC, Golfweek’s coverage will continue to ramp up as college golf expert Lance Ringler conducts one-on-one interviews with tournament organizers and featured players to provide an inside look at this exciting event.
“The NCCGA National Championship is the highlight and culminating NCCGA event each semester. We are thrilled to have the support of Golfweek with our continued goal to provide a varsity-level experience for all players,” said NCCGA President Kevin Hamori. “It is pretty exciting to see the growth of the NCCGA and impact we can make on student’s lives around the country. The NCCGA will soon have more players than varsity golfers. It is pretty cool when you think about it.”

About the NCCGA
NCCGA was established in the Spring of 2006, with its roots tracing back to the Southeastern Golf Club Association (2003). Through the regulation of competitive tournaments the Association offers club golf teams a valuable and immediate way to compete on a local, regional and national level. As of December 2012, the NCCGA was incorporated into CollegeGolfPass (CGP), which was started in 2011 by two entrepreneurs in Boston in an effort to make golf more affordable, accessible and fun for college students across the country. CGP partners with nearly 500 golf courses across the country to provide students exclusive collegiate rates to play golf. Between NCCGA and CGP, the organization support club golf teams and students at over 300 colleges and will run over 40 golf tournaments across the country this fall.
