Novi, MI – Since being reinstated as a sport for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, the raw emotions and resounding praise by the 60 golf professionals representing 32 countries in the Men’s Olympic Golf Competition in Paris, France last week, demonstrated how significantly the players have come to embrace and appreciate golf being showcased on the world’s grandest athletic stage, the Olympics.

Sunday’s drama-filled, roller coaster, leaderboard toppling, final round had the feeling and intensity of a major championship beginning with seven of the top 15 golfers in the world in the hunt. These included Scheffler, Schauffele, McIlrory, Rahm, Fleetwood, Matsuyama, Aberg and Kim.  With six birdies on the back nine, world #1 Scottie Scheffler put an exclamation point on that status by claiming the gold medal with a course-record-tying 62.

Competing in the Olympics for the second time was a highlight for five-time world champion and 2THUMB ambassador, Christiaan Bezuidenhout of South Africa who finished in 16th place.  Bezuidenhout shot a 64, the second lowest round on Saturday, and was six shots out of the lead on Sunday.

Prior to the start of the competition, Bezuidenhout commented, “So proud to be representing South Africa at the Olympics in Paris. It’s hard to put into words how amazing it was playing for my country at the last Olympics in Tokyo. I really didn’t know what to expect, but I can honestly say it was one of the coolest experiences of my career.”

Bezuidenhout putts with 2THUMB’s SNUG2 30 featuring the grip’s signature smooth and flat front-facing design to ensure consistent grip alignment, and a rounded underbelly that fits in the lifeline of the player’s palm.  Playing with the 2THUMB grip has vaulted Bezuidenhout to #1 in overall putting average stats on the PGA Tour and fourth in total putting.

2THUMB was founded in the U.K. in 2004 and has had great international success on the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour. The SNUG2 30 is an incredibly versatile grip that accommodates all of today’s putting grip styles, from Conventional, Claw, Left hand low, Prayer etc.
