Novi, MI – Coming off back-to-back wins at the 2026 South African Open and the Magical Kenya Open, DP World Tour professional and 2THUMB putting grip player, missed a hat trick Sunday finishing second in a drama filled final round at the Joburg Open in Johannesburg, South Africa. He shot a 4-under 66 to finish one shot behind Englishman Dan Bradbury.
Bradbury, 26, made four birdies on the back nine adding to another birdie he made on the par 3 ninth, posting 5-under 65 for the victory. South African Hennie du Plessis finished the front nine with a three-shot lead only to drop three shots at holes 15 and 16. That moved Brandon Robinson Thompson to the top of the leaderboard in the closing holes with a one-shot lead, but he three-putted the 18th to finished 16-under.
The 22-year-old South African and 2THUMB player has had a great start to his rookie DP World Tour season. He was third at the Mauritius Open, tied ninth in Bahrain, and then claimed two victories preceding the Joburg Open. A third consecutive victory on the DP World would have vaulted the local favorite into illustrious history alongside legends Seve Ballesteros and Nick Faldo, the only two players to have achieved that feat.
