Novi, MI – Scottie Scheffler jump-started his return to the 2026 PGA Tour season with a four-shot victory on Sunday at the American Express in La Quinta, Calif. Showing little rust, Scheffler closed with a 6-under 66 marking his 20th PGA Tour win.
Four players tied for second with a score of 23-under including 13-time PGA Tour winner Jason Day, Ryan Gerard, Matt McCarty and the winner of the 2018 Barracuda Championship and 2THUMB putting grip player. Each received $616,400 in earnings and 183.75 FedEx points.
A member of the PGA Tour since 2015, the 2THUMB player recorded a 12-under 60 in the second round of the American Express at the La Quinta Country Club. He tied for low round of the day along with 18-year-old Korn Ferry Tour member, Blades Brown, who shot a course-record 60 at PGA WEST’s Nicklaus tournament course.
