Pat Sellers has teamed with TPK Golf and its new training aid, the Putting Stick®, to provide assistance for golf professionals on the Web-com Tour to fine tune their putting this season.
“We are excited to have someone with the experience Pat has had representing us,” said Vlad Gribovsky of TPK Golf, which manufacturers and distributes the Putting Stick®. “His understanding and knowledge about putting will assure players they are getting the best advice possible about their putting.”
Sellers indicated he is currently working with 13 players on the Web-com Tour, including PGA Tour veteran Skip Kendall. “All of them really like the new pro model, featuring the mirror built into the stick” Sellers said. “It’s very portable, now only one piece, fitting easily into their golf bags when not practicing. They really like the leveling bubble that ensures the training aid is on a level surface. The rubber strip on the back prevents it from slipping, too.”
Sellers believes that practicing with the training aid pays off. “You only have control of the first three feet and the Putting Stick® definitely helps you perfect that,” he said. “If you don’t hit the putter square at impact, the ball will fall off it.”
Kendall uses it daily. “It helps me develop a repeatable stroke that keeps the ball on the stick and therefore on the line I selected,” Kendall noted.
Sellers, who also reps the other TPK Golf line of quality leather products, added that at least three-quarters of the field at the Web-com Tour Championship at TPC were using the yardage book that Gribovsky introduced 15 years ago. “They think it’s the greatest they’ve ever used,” added Sellers, who personalizes them for the professionals.
About the Putting Stick®
The Putting Stick®, manufactured and distributed by TPK Golf of Waconia, MN is 46 inches long, coming with a leveling bubble to ensure that the surface is flat. There is an adjustable bar on the back end that helps golfers take the proper length of backswing. A mirror, easily attached to the base, allows golfers to ensure that their eyes are aligned correctly. If the putter face is not square at impact, the ball will roll off the stick before reaching the end. Balls going off to the right will indicate an open face and balls going off to the left a closed face. It can be used indoors or on the putting green. A new pro version model features a mirror built into the training aid, making it even more portable. In addition, the far-end of the stick is now beveled to allow a more consistent roll on the green as the ball leaves the training aid. The leveler can now also show up and down along with side to side, thus providing the ability to practice uphill or downhill putts on the practice putting greens and get a better feel for the speed of the greens.
