The Symetra Tour, the Road to the LPGA Tour, announced it has awarded longstanding partner Kyung Ahn Moon, Chairman of Volvik INC, with the 2013 Eloise Trainor Award.
The Symetra Tour established the Trainor Award in 1999, in honor of its founder and former president, Eloise Trainor, who retired in 1999. In the spirit of Trainor, who operated the tour for 20 years, the annual Trainor Award is presented to an individual or group that has made a significant contribution to women’s golf.
“Since Volvik has signed-on to partner with both the LPGA and Symetra Tours, they have been committed to raising the profile of women’s golf around the world,” said Chief Business Officer of the Symetra Tour, Mike Nichols. “Here on the Symetra Tour, as the official golf ball, title sponsor of our penultimate event, and sponsor of our season long Volvik Race for the Card, they have paved the way for women to chase their dreams of playing on the LPGA Tour.”
Volvik is known as the number one colored golf ball on Tour and since 2012, its players combined to record 47 top-10 finishes and five victories on the LPGA and Symetra Tour.
“I humbly accept the Eloise Trainor Award for helping to grow women’s golf,” said Chairman of Volvik INC Kyung Ahn Moon. “Being the first South Korean born winner of this award is such a great honor and should let people know just how much women’s golf has been an inspiration to our country and our company. As the chairman of Volvik, we gear our products to accommodate women golfers who are seeking a combination of fun and performance in their game. We need the game to be more accessible to women in order to expand and I am excited to be a part of this movement.”
Volvik is the official golf ball of the Symetra Tour and is also the sponsor of the Volvik Race for the Card, where the Top 10 players on the Symetra Tour money list earn their LPGA Tour cards for the following season. At every Symetra Tour event, the driving range is covered in Volvik’s colorful high-performance 3-piece and 4-piece golf balls for all Symetra Tour players to practice with. Over 20 players are using Volvik colored golf balls on the 2013 Symetra Tour. Volvik players earned two Victories, eight Top 10 finishes and 20 Top 25 finishes in 2013.
