(VIENNA, VA) – Forest Greens Golf Club – located in Triangle, VA, 30 minutes south of Washington, DC, and managed by Billy Casper Golf – will host the Fall 2013 National Collegiate Club Golf Association (NCCGA) Capitol Regional Golf Championship on October 19-20.
Open to the public, the two-day stroke play tournament is contested between the nation’s finest non-varsity collegiate golfers representing 16 regions from New England to California. Hundreds of players compete on their campus club teams to qualify for NCCGA regional events and the chance to advance to the National Championship at Barefoot Resort in Myrtle Beach on November 16-17.
The NCCGA Capitol Region has 14 teams competing at Forest Greens: James Madison University, American University, George Washington University, Old Dominion University, College of William and Mary, University of Richmond, Virginia Tech, University of Virginia, Old Dominion University, Georgetown University, Towson University, Hampden-Sydney University and University of Maryland.
“Forest Greens is honored to be selected to host this collegiate event,” says Tom Coffman, General Manager of Forest Greens. “Our staff works incredibly hard to ensure playing conditions are consistently tournament-ready, and we anticipate two days of unmatched competition and camaraderie.”
Opened in 1996, Forest Greens Golf Club is a true back-to-nature oasis amid the bustle of Northern Virginia. The 18-hole, par 72 course was designed by renowned architect Clyde Johnston.
Awarded four stars (of five) from Golf Digest, Forest Greens features pine tree-lined fairways, well-protected greens and gently rolling terrain. An intriguing layout with few blind shots, generous landing areas and elevated tees blends bark and bite for all handicaps. The comprehensive practice facility includes an all-grass driving range, a putting and chipping green, and PGA instruction.
The clubhouse contains a pro shop with a complete selection of golf apparel and equipment. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, the restaurant is popular for post-round relaxation and regularly hosts corporate outings and other social engagements.
