Scott Paris (Plainfield C.C.) named Golf Professional of the Year; David Reasoner (Ridgewood C.C.) and Mike Attara (Eagle Ridge G.C.) recognized with multiple awards
PISCATAWAY, N.J., October 15, 2013…The New Jersey Section of The PGA of America (NJPGA) today announced its 2013 annual award recipients, led by Scott Paris, Director of Golf at Plainfield Country Club in Edison, N.J., who was recognized as the 2013 NJPGA Golf Professional of the Year, while David Reasoner, Head Golf Professional at Ridgewood C.C., and Mike Attara, Director of Golf Operations at Eagle Ridge G.C., were honored with multiple awards. Paris, Reasoner and Attara lead an esteemed list of PGA Professionals who were honored as 2013 New Jersey Section Special Award winners.
The following award winners will be recognized at the New Jersey PGA Fall Meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at Crestmont Country Club in West Orange, N.J., and at the annual Celebration of Golf dinner on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J.:
• Golf Professional of the Year: Scott Paris, Plainfield Country Club, Edison
• Teacher of the Year: Mike Adams, Hamilton Farm Golf Club, Gladstone
• Junior Golf Leader: Tony Latham, Royce Brook Golf Club, Hillsborough
• Bill Strausbaugh Award: David Reasoner, Ridgewood Country Club, Paramus
• Horton Smith Award: Keith Stewart, Springdale Golf Club, Princeton
• Player Development Award: Mike Attara, Eagle Ridge Golf Club, Lakewood
• Patriot Award: Mike Attara, Eagle Ridge Golf Club, Lakewood
• Merchandiser of the Year for Private Facilities: David Reasoner, Ridgewood Country Club, Paramus
• Merchandiser of the Year for Public Facilities: George Ancuta, The Knoll Country Club, Parsippany
• Golf Club of the Year: Trump National Golf Club, Bedminster
• Assistant Professional of the Year: John Haight, Essex Fells Country Club, Essex Fells
• Salesman: Rich Mosel, GolfMax
In addition to being recognized as NJPGA’s Golf Professional of the Year, Scott Paris was also recognized on the national stage, as he was named the recipient of the 2013 PGA Merchandiser of the Year for Private Facilities. The award was established in 1976 to recognize PGA Professionals who excelled as businesspersons and merchandisers in the promotion of golf. Paris, 45, is the fourth New Jersey PGA Section Professional to be named a recipient of the PGA Merchandiser of the Year. He was elected to PGA of America membership in 1994 and has been a member of the New Jersey PGA Section Board of Directors since 2002 where he is currently the Vice President of both the Section and the New Jersey Golf Foundation.
In related news, New Jersey Section PGA Professional Daniel Pasternak, PGA General Manager and Director of Golf at Panther Valley Golf and Country Club in Allamuchy, N.J., was recognized nationally by The PGA of America as the 2013 Bill Strausbaugh Award recipient. He is the first member of the New Jersey Section to receive the Bill Strausbaugh Award, established in 1979 in tribute to the late Middle Atlantic PGA Master Professional who left an indelible mark in PGA of America history, excelling in both leadership and service to a PGA Section and the Association.
