North Stonington, Conn., October 16, 2013 – Lake of Isles is pleased to announce that Golf Digest named Director of Instruction, Derek Hooper, one of the Best Teachers in Connecticut for 2013-14. He is ranked No. 8 on Golf Digest’s prestigious list.
Hooper, who has more than 20 years of teaching experience, is an AAA member of the Australian PGA and has a degree in sports science and teaching methodology from the University of Queensland, Australia. He specializes in personal training programs designed to specifically meet the goals of each individual. He also conducts High Performance and Junior Golf Scholarship programs where a number of graduates have earned collegiate scholarships.
Since its inception in 2000, Golf Digest has used peer voting on the state and national level to build the Best Teachers list. This year’s list was selected by the nearly 12,500 teachers from all 50 states who filled out an online ballot, ranking their peers on a grade-point scale from 1 to 10.

Hooper has been the Director of Instruction at the Troon Golf Academy since it opened in 2005. The facility features four indoor teaching studios equipped with V1 swing analysis, Golf Biodynamics 3D swing analysis, 60,000 square feet of teeing space, and large putting, chipping and bunker practice areas.
