A Career Marked by Leadership and Compassion
Dumas’ 24-year career with the PGA began as an Assistant Professional at Summitpointe Golf Club in Milpitas. He spent a couple years in the Minnesota Section of the PGA of America and returned to California in 1993 as Assistant Golf Professional of Rossmoor Golf Course. There his performance earned him the 1999 NCPGA Assistant Apprentice of the Year award. He spent three years as Head Golf Professional at Diablo Country Club before becoming Director of Golf at Contra Costa Country Club. In less than a year, he assumed the General Manager position where he remains today.
He has participated both at the section and national level for many years. He was a member of the NCPGA Section Rules Committee (1994 -2002) and served as Co-Chair in 2001 and 2002. Dumas was elected to the NCPGA Board of Directors as an At-Large Director in 2006. He was later elected to the office of Secretary by the Board of Directors in 2008, Vice President in 2010, and currently is serving as President of the NCPGA Section through 2013. In this role, he has contributed significant financial and business acumen, updating the Section Business Plan and extending it through 2015. At the national level, Dumas supported the “Play Golf America” and “Golf 2.0” initiatives.
An Officer of the NCPGA Foundation since 2008, he is currently Vice President and will be the incoming President of the Foundation in 2014. The NCPGA Foundation is a 501(c) 3 organization dedicated to enriching the lives and communities of those in Northern California and Northwestern Nevada by providing resources to golf programs that teach life’s positive values.
Dumas has contributed to the golf industry at the business and community level. “I have participated in my community by taking the game of golf to inner cities, working with children and introducing them to the game by participating in Section Golf Days and speaking to local organizations such as Lion’s Clubs. In 2008, he created the Junior Merit Membership at Contra Costa Country Club, offering a “private club scholarship” to a deserving student that might not otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy the privilege of such a facility.
