Unprecedented business and programming partnership creates
a player pathway for new and current players
ONTARIO, CA – The Southern California PGA (SCPGA) has formed a strategic partnership with TGA Premier Junior Golf (TGA) through adopting TGA’s school-based activation model as its golf in schools programming initiative.
Through this partnership, the SCPGA will implement TGA’s franchise business model beginning in two locations, North Orange County and North San Diego with more in the planning stages. Through both in-school and after-school enrichment programming, the SCPGA and TGA will engage new junior golfers along with their families in schools and transition them to partner golf course facilities and into future golf opportunities.
“I am convinced that this partnership will provide an essential key in developing players and introducing them to the many life enhancing features the game of golf provides,” said SCPGA President, Jeff Johnson. “On behalf of our Board of Directors, the PGA of Southern California is thrilled at the prospect of helping fellow PGA Members shine as they impact the lives of children and adults through these comprehensive and innovative programs.”
The SCPGA, as the franchisee, will hire SCPGA Professionals to oversee day-to-day operations and provide instruction to execute school-based and golf course programs. The unique partnership will not only grow golf through participation, but will also provide the Section with additional revenues to develop other initiatives.
“With participation numbers of juniors and adults dropping, this is a critical time in our industry. We need to work together to further develop and scale, self-sustaining initiatives that make golf accessible and activate a broader base,” said TGA’s founder and CEO, Joshua Jacobs. “This partnership not only creates job opportunities for PGA Professionals, it will also create a pathway for new and current players that increases participation and drives new clientele to golf courses and PGA Professionals.”
The SCPGA and TGA will also work together to create a player pathway in Southern California for juniors and adults. The pathway will begin in schools and progress to golf courses for enhanced skill development through PGA Professionals. Programming involved will be camps, parent-child events, PGA Junior League Golf, Drive Chip and Putt, Get Golf Ready and SCPGA Junior Tour events.
All of the school-based programs will use PowerBilt equipment and their seven different sizes and gender specific junior golf clubs.
