GolfGetaways Magazine Builds The Ultimate Travel Bucket List

October 30, 2013

Quincy, Mass. – It’s become a permanent part of the American traveler’s lexicon: The Bucket List. But for road-trippers who happen to play golf, the phrase packs even more special power and allure. Now available on newsstands and via subscription, the November-December 2013 edition of GolfGetaways Magazine puts the Golfer’s Bucket List in sharper focus than ever before.

The must-visit-destination coverage begins with Managing Editor Darin Bunch’s feature on his first journey to Scotland. He logs a memorable round at Muirfield, site of Phil Mickelson’s breakthrough Open Championship win, as well as other East Lothian classes like Gullane and Dunbar, then heads north for turns at a couple of modern-day masterpieces, Kingsbarns and Trump International – all the while fitting in stops at various pubs and inns, the kind of experiences that define any Bucket List excursion.

From there the issue heads to the western reaches of Scotland for yet more Auld Sod golf, then back across the pond for a far-reaching rundown of Bucket List address in every corner of the United States and around the world.

“Any avid golfer has his or her own personal bucket list based on immediate experience, hearsay, a place’s all-out fame or perhaps the whisper of a ‘next-big-thing’ rumor,” says Executive Editor Vic Williams. “In this issue we tap into that extreme sense of wanderlust by taking our readers to stay-and-play places that truly deserve a spot on every list, whether you’ve heard of them or not.”

Among the nations, states and regions represented are Alabama, Canada, California, Central America, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Ireland, Maryland, Michigan, New Mexico, New Jersey, Oregon, the Carolinas and Wales.

Other issue highlights: The history of Phoenix-Scottsdale’s rise as a world-class golf destination; a discussion of which PGA Tour stop – Pebble Beach or Scottsdale – makes for a better golf vacation; and the magazine’s annual Holiday Gift Guide, which includes enough equipment, gadgets and vacation ideas to fill every shopper’s list.

The only national publication dedicated 100 percent to golf travel and the lifestyle that goes with it, GolfGetaways is available via subscription and through Barnes & Noble and other selected newsstands nationwide.
