(Palm Beach Gardens, FL) The Executive Women’s Golf Association has been growing the game of golf for the past twenty-two years. Since its inception in 1991, the EWGA has served as a portal to golf and touched the lives of over 100,000 women. Enriching the lives of women through the game of golf, the organization exists to connect women to learn, play, and enjoy golf for business and for fun.
On November 1st, the EWGA will introduce Sheryl Wilkerson as the new volunteer President to the Board of Directors. Wilkerson, founder of Willow LLC, a consulting company located in Fairfax Station, VA., that provides strategy, business development, and advocacy to public and private companies around the world, has been a long-time member of the EWGA’s D.C. Chapter since the late 90s.
“We are very fortunate to have such high caliber volunteers, like Sheryl Wilkerson, who are truly committed to living the vision and mission of this organization,” says Pam Swensen, EWGA’s Chief Executive Officer. “I look forward to her volunteer leadership as we continue to be the golf community for women by enriching lives through the game of golf.”
Drawn into the EWGA by the tremendous benefits the organization offers, Wilkerson saw the EWGA as a door opener. “Golf provides an opportunity for women to conduct business, network with and get to know their business colleagues,” says Wilkerson. “Although golf remains a predominately male sport, it is imperative that women be invited to play the game thus affording them the opportunity to earn the respect of their colleagues, play in corporate and charity sponsored events, and create long lasting business relationships on the golf course.”
According to Sheryl, “Golf doesn’t just provide a setting for business; it provides the opportunity to connect with friends, family, and meet new people. Nearly every member out there has a story to tell about a life long friendship or professional business relationship that they have made through the EWGA.”
Sheryl is leading a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of exceptional talent including entrepreneurs, industry and corporate partners as well as top-notch professionals from nearly every sector of the golf and business industry who are committed to growing the game and providing their members with an unparalleled golf experience both here in the U.S and abroad.
As the EWGA continues to grow their golf community for women, they will strive to introduce current aspiring and professional women of all skill levels and backgrounds to the game of golf. “Many women have neither been invited nor made to feel comfortable on the golf course and we will continue to be inclusive and provide best in class opportunities and services to introduce women to the game in a supportive environment,” says Wilkerson.
