North Stonington, Conn., November 13, 2013 – Lake of Isles’ North Course, a Rees Jones design, was recently named by Golfweek as one of America’s Best in the Resort Course category. The North Course, which is located adjacent to Foxwoods Resort Casino is ranked 91 on the Top 100 list.
“It is an honor to once again be named to Golfweek’s Best Of list,” said Archie Cart, Lake of Isles General Manager. “The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation’s commitment to quality and excellence has paved the way for Lake of Isles to be one of the premier golf facilities in the country. To be recognized by the national golf media means a lot to the tribe, Foxwoods as well as the entire Troon Golf team at Lake of Isles.”
Golfweek’s 400 course evaluators for “America’s Best” listing submit ballots grading courses all over the country on a 10-point scale to determine the country’s finest golf courses. Raters take into account factors such as routing of the course, feature shaping, greens, variety and memorable holes, conditioning, maintenance, and landscape management. The complete list of Best Resorts can be found in the 2014 edition of Golfweek’s Ultimate Guide to Golf Course Living and Great Escapes or online at golfweek.com.
