Troon shares early feedback confirming “Troon Values Your Time” is making a positive impact on pace-of-play
Scottsdale, Ariz. (November, 19 2013) – Troon, along with other leaders in the golf industry recently gathered together at a symposium orchestrated by the United States Golf Association (USGA) to exchange ideas and solutions for the pace-of-play issue that currently exists in the game. The collaborative effort included an update from Troon on the early positive results from Troon Values Your Time, the global company’s pace-of-play improvement program already implemented at Troon facilities around the world.
Among those at the symposium who presented on the most current, and innovative ways to improve pace of play was Troon’s senior vice president of operations Ryan Walls. Walls shared company insight gained from customer-survey results involving pace of play and the Troon Values Your Time program. Other speakers at the symposium included: Matt Pringle of the USGA Equipment and Test Center, who presented the pace-of-play model that the USGA is developing; Bill Yates, who shared his findings on pace of play at USGA championships; and Stephen Hamblin of the AJGA, who shared how players on his circuit were able to play in an average of four hours and 17 minutes in 2013.

Since implementing Troon Values Your Time initiatives three months ago, Yocha Dehe Golf Club in Brooks, Calif. has improved its pace-of-play by an average of 16 minutes. Indian Wells Golf Resort in Indian Wells, Calif. improved pace-of-play by 11 minutes on average after implementing Troon Values Your Time two months ago.
At the USGA Pace-of-Play Symposium, Troon also unveiled results of Troon customer surveys related to pace-of play-expectations and feedback related to the current success of Troon Values Your Time. A sampling of survey questions revealed the following percentages of customer responses:
– Regarding the amount of time the surveyed customers expect a round of golf should take, 60.4% said between 4:00-4:29.
– 91% reported that they “would be more likely to play a course that clearly communicates and enforces their expected pace of play.”
– 65.6% have noticed pace-of-play-tips by Troon, the USGA, Golf Chanel and or other organizations and 85% of those customers believe the tips are helpful.
– 78.6% have noticed designated Time Pars at Troon courses.
– 61.6% feel that the facility’s Time Par has led to a more pleasurable golf experience.
– 76.5% stated that Troon Values Your Time is making (or will make) an impact on how long a round of golf actually takes.
