Volvik staff player Pornanong Phatlum held the 54-hole lead and ended up with a 3rd place finish at the LPGA Tour’s final event of the 2013 season Sunday at the CME Group Titleholders. A total of four players using Volvik golf balls finished in the Top 25 of the CME Group Titleholders, the equivalent to the season-ending TOUR Championship on the PGA TOUR.
The Top 5 finish by Phatlum was the 13th Top 5 finish for a player using Volvik golf balls this year on the LPGA Tour. Five different players using Volvik golf balls held the lead of an LPGA round eight different times this season. Company officials estimate that Volvik has received over $2 million in television airtime exposure from their players performing on LPGA Tour telecasts featured on the Golf Channel.
“We were once again very close to our second victory of the LPGA season, and once again our staff players played extremely well and gave us wonderful airtime exposure,” said National Director of Sales and Marketing for Volvik USA Jon Claffey. “It really did seem like we had a player in contention every week this year and the amount of marketing that was done on Volvik’s behalf by our players playing at the top of the leaderboard with our bright colored golf balls has been truly amazing.”
Phatlum earned four Top 5’s and seven Top 10’s this year, earning over $600,000. Her 3rd place finish in Naples, FL secured her a Top 25 spot on the official LPGA Tour money list at #23. It is far and away a career year for Phatlum on the LPGA Tour, her first full year playing Volvik golf balls. Phatlum plays Pink Vista 4-piece golf balls.
Also at the CME Group Titleholders, Volvik staff players Ilhee Lee finished T11, Meena Lee finished T16 and Chella Choi finished T25, giving Volvik four players in the Top 25 of the final event.
In 2013, players using Volvik color golf balls earned one Victory, 13 Top 5 finishes, 22 Top 10 finishes and 48 total Top 25 finishes on the LPGA Tour. These prolific numbers mean that Volvik averaged a Top 5 finish in over half of the LPGA events played and averaged a Top 10 finish in 78% of the events played this season. With 48 Top 25 finishes, Volvik averaged 1.7 Top 25 finishes per event played.
For the first time ever, three Volvik staff players finished in the Top 25 on the LPGA money list.
Nine Volvik staff players finished in the Top 100 on the LPGA money list: #17 Chella Choi (Orange Vista), #23 Pornanong Phatlum (Pink Vista) , #24 Ilhee Lee (Yellow Vista), #45 Meena Lee (Yellow Vista),# 65 Jee Young Lee (Orange Vista), #73 Thidapa Suwannapura (Pink Vista), #77 Lindsey Wright (Orange Vista), #91 Jeong Jang (Pink ) and #92 Mi Hyang Lee (Pink).
Volvik had 195 total instances of professionals using their Vista golf balls in tournament play on the 2013 LPGA Tour (77 Orange, 71 Yellow, 43 Pink and 3 Green).
