Orlando, Fla. – The North Florida Section of the PGA of America held its 34th Annual Meeting at Reunion Resort in Orlando on December 2. PGA Members from around the Section gathered to recap an exceptional year and hear about the future. It was an election year for the Secretary and Tournament Chairman positions as well. Four Secretary Candidates volunteered their services and expertise to lead the Section in the upcoming generation. The candidates were: Kevin Baker; Reunion Resort, Tim Beckwith; The Oaks Club, John Falcone; Dunedin CC and John Hughes; Golf Digest Schools. Although all are exceptional gentlemen, John Hughes won the election and will be the new Secretary of the North Florida PGA. John is also the PGA of America’s 2014 Horton Smith Award Winner. The candidates for Tournament Chairperson were: David Hronek (incumbent) and Jennifer Borocz; Jacksonville University. David Hronek won the election and remains the Tournament Chairman. The day began with the inspiration and presentations from Dr. Bob Winters and Daniel Flynn with revolutionary mental game topics that unlock the ultimate performance capabilities for all golfers. It was an inspiring meeting and always great to see PGA brothers and sisters gather annually to support their association and the game they love. Tony Johnson; Christovich Associates will now be the Honorary President and Mike Touhey; Downs Golf and Practice, will ascend to the role of President along with Mike Lynch; Golf Channel, as the Vice President. A special thank you to Tony Johnson for his many years of service and leadership. Jack Binswanger; Village Green GC, assumes his new role at District 13 Director for the PGA of America, as well. The North Florida PGA looks forward to another banner year, remaining focused on growing the game and helping its PGA Members achieve success as they move into their 35th year!
