VACAVILLE, Calif. – The Northern California Section of the PGA is pleased to announce that Gary Renelt of Northern California Golf Representatives Association (NCGRA) and Bridgestone Golf Company in Discovery Bay, California is the recipient of the 2013 NCPGA Sales Representative of the Year Award. The award is given to an individual for their service to Northern California PGA Professionals, their merchandising team members, and to the Section.
Renelt is now in his 28th year in the golf business, of which 25 have been with Bridgestone Golf. His territory spans Northern California and Northern Nevada and includes approximately 350 accounts and 22 qualified Bridgestone staff members at various NCPGA facilities.
Renelt and his staff coordinate and participate in approximately 125 ball fitting days and 20 demo days per year. Leveraging advancements in technology for the golf industry, they install computerized indoor units that assist consumers with proper ball fitting selection.
Renelt has donated product and/or time to numerous organizations including The First Tee, Play Golf America Day, Patriot Day, Saving Strokes, Special Olympics, Doctor’s Orders: Play Golf, Fly Girls: Golf For A Cause, and various junior golf programs and clinics. He has also contributed to the community, supporting the Vietnam Veterans Foundation, Valley of the Moon Children’s Home, Sonoma Mentoring Alliance, and numerous invitational events and charitable Pro-Am’s throughout the Section.
Renelt is among 19 recipients of the NCPGA’s 2013 Annual Section Awards. Section awards are given to PGA Professionals and industry leaders who have excelled in the game and business of golf. The NCPGA will recognize its 2013 Annual Section Award winners on Sunday, December 8 at the NCPGA Special Awards Ceremony & President’s Dinner at Contra Costa Country Club in Pleasant Hill, Calif. This event, a highlight for the year, will be held the evening prior to the NCPGA Annual Meeting. There are more than 200 golf professionals and industry leaders expected to attend. E-Z-Go Textron is a presenting partner and PGA Resort and Spa and the Northern California Golf Representatives Association is a supporting partner of the Awards Ceremony & Annual Meeting.
“Gary has been a supporter of the NCPGA, its members and apprentices for several decades through his job at Bridgestone and leadership positions with the Northern California Golf Representatives Association,” said NCPGA Awards Chairman Ted Mattila, PGA. “In addition, he has a highly respected Bridgestone Staff Program for our Section members and apprentices.”
During his tenure as a sales representative, Renelt has provided educational seminars to PGA Professionals at the chapter level, presented to NCGRA members about the importance of Golf 2.0 and the “Connection with Her” initiative, as well as secured new and centralized venues for meetings and events in conjunction with the NCGRA Golf Expo, held annually.
Renelt’s performance has been recognized by the company on more than one occasion, as recipient of Bridgestone’s 1991 National Sales Representative of the Year Award as well as the 1992 and 2009 Regional Sales of Representative of the Year Award.
