ORLANDO, Fla. (Dec. 12, 2013) – Golfers seeking to hit the jackpot both on an off the course need look no further than the honorees on the 2013 Golfweek’s Best Casino Courses list. Featured in Golfweek’s December double issue, these comprehensive rankings go beyond the game’s most renowned casino hotspots – which include No. 1 Shadow Creek Golf Course (Las Vegas), No. 2 Fallen Oak (Saucier, Miss.) and No. 3 We-Ko-Pa Golf Club’s Saguaro (Fountain Hills, Ariz.) – to recognize a variety of extraordinary golf and gaming destinations from coast to coast.
“Our raters get around, and their efforts have produced a list that makes us proud,” said Bradley S. Klein, national director of the Golfweek’s Best rating program. “With 19 states represented on this list of top casino courses, including nine different states among the top 10, there’s great geographical diversity represented here. Nontraditional golf resort states like New York and Indiana are represented on the list, which is a measure of the popularity of these casino courses.”
Arizona leads the 2013 Golfweek’s Best Casino Courses list with eight courses, followed by Mississippi with six. The list also features three newcomers: No. 44 Rocky Gap Casino Resort (Cumberland, Md.), No. 49 WinStar Golf Club (Thackerville, Okla.) and No. 50 The Bridges Golf Club at Hollywood Casino (Bay St. Louis, Miss.) – illustrating that, regardless of location, facilities across the country are upping the ante to provide high-quality casino golf experiences.
The Golfweek Raters panel represents an experienced team of 725 evaluators who rate layouts on the basis of 10 criteria, including routing, conditioning, variety and memorability of holes. The result is an average of scores that produces a course’s overall ranking.
