A new year of tournaments for club pros and members kicks off at the Caribbean’s finest resort
La Romana, Dominican Republic (Dec. 23, 2013)… Casa de Campo-the number-one resort in Latin America with the finest golf in the region-has three Pro-Am events lined up for first quarter 2014.
Continuing a long tradition of all-inclusive tournaments, long-time director of golf Gilles Gagnon is again rolling out the green carpet for club pros and their members looking for great golf and fun under the Caribbean sun.
The 2014 season’s events include:
• 40th Annual Casa de Campo International Pro-Am, January 11-18
• 30th Caribbean International Pro-Am I, January 25-February 1
• 26th Caribbean International Pro-Am II, March 1-8
All three tournaments, which are open to men and women, include rounds on three outstanding courses designed by legendary architect Pete Dye-the world-famous Teeth of the Dog (currently rated number 47 in the world by Golf Magazine), Dye Fore and the recently renovated Dye Links.
Pro-ams will be played over 72 holes, with teams divided into flights according to total team handicap. There will be both gross and net divisions. The first 36 holes will be played one net best ball; the final 36 holes at two net best ball.
Besides tournament favors, amateurs will be playing for prizes worth more than $7,500. Professionals will compete for a championship prize of $7,500.
Pros and their members can choose either 6-day/5-night or 8-day/7-night packages that begin at $2,998 per person, double occupancy (lower rates apply to lady golfers and non-golfers), with special rates for extra nights also available. Guests will also enjoy the resort’s renowned Sporting Life, with access to shooting, equestrian sports, tennis and world-class marina.
All packages include deluxe accommodations; daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner (with no surcharge); unlimited drinks in all hotel bars and restaurants; drinks on-course during practice and tournament rounds; unlimited green fees, carts, range balls, and club storage; transfer from La Romana, Santo Domingo, or Punta Cana airports; entry fees; tax and service charges. Women golfers and non-golfers also receive a complimentary massage at the resort’s elegant spa.
Golfers flying into Santo Domingo airport will find the drive to the resort half as long as it used to be with the November opening of the new La Romana Bypass, a four-lane highway that cuts the drive from the capital city to Casa de Campo to under an hour.
