WACONIA, MN-TPK Golf of Waconia, MN will showcase the new pro model of its popular training aid, the Putting Stick®, in booth 3204 at the 61st PGA Merchandise Show Jan. 22-24 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL.
“We’re excited about our chance to show our new training aid and our other leather products all made in the US at this global summit for the golf industry,” said Vlad Gribovsky, President of TPK Golf.
Professionals attending the demo day, the world’s largest professional golf testing event, on Jan. 21 at the Orange County National Golf Center, will also be able to have hands-on testing of both the original and pro models of the training aid on the putting green that day.
“We re-introduced the training aid at last year’s show, but tweaked it a little after hearing from Bo Van Pelt’s teacher, Mitchell Crum, who suggested inserting the mirror into the front end of the stick instead of attaching it at the far end,” added Gribovsky.
“In addition, the far-end of the pro model is now beveled to allow a more consistent roll on the green as the ball leaves the training aid. The leveler can now also designate up and down along with side to side, providing the ability to practice uphill or downhill putts on the practice putting greens and get a better feel for the speed of the greens.
“We’ve gotten endorsements from some of the game’s other best teachers during the past year and have seen many other touring professionals starting to incorporate it into their putting practice routines.”
Jon Sinclair of Sinclair’s Golf Center in Euless, TX started using the Putting Stick® with all his students after seeing video evidence of how it helped Van Pelt, who Sinclair tested before and after he started using the training aid as part of his putting practice.
“The Putting Stick® provides excellent feedback to my students in many different important areas, but most important it provides instant feedback on how the putter face is aligned relative to the putter path around impact,” added Joey Wuertemberger of the Jim McLean Golf Center in Fort Worth, TX.
“The Putting Stick® gets students to realize their faults, and gives instant feedback on whether or not they are doing it correctly,” said Chris Baisch of the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaoka,MN. “It helps get the putter square at address, helps to ensure their eyes are over the ball, and forces the student to make an accelerated stroke. It gives players confidence that they can be aggressive with their putts and if it goes three to four feet by they know they can make that putt coming back with using the Putting Stick®.”
About the Putting Stick®
The Putting Stick®, manufactured and distributed by TPK Golf of Waconia, MN, is 46 inches long, coming with a leveling bubble to ensure that the surface is flat. There is an adjustable bar on the back end that helps golfers take the proper length of backswing. A mirror, easily attached to the base, allows golfers to ensure that their eyes are aligned correctly. If the putter face is not square at impact, the ball will roll off the stick before reaching the end. Balls going off to the right will indicate an open face and balls going off to the left a closed face. It can be used indoors or on the putting green. A new pro version model features a mirror built into the front end of the training aid, making it even more portable. In addition, the far-end of the stick is now beveled to allow a more consistent roll on the green as the ball leaves the training aid. The leveler can now also designate up and down along with side to side, providing the ability to practice uphill or downhill putts on the practice putting greens and get a better feel for the speed of the greens.
