Troon expands impressive portfolio in Morocco with addition of PalmGolf Club Marrakech
Scottsdale, Ariz. (January 9, 2014) – Troon,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing has continued to grow its impressive Moroccan portfolio with the addition of another Palmeraie Development Group facility called PalmGolf Club Marrakech. Following the announcement in 2013 that Troon will manage sister venues at Les Jardins De l’Atlas, Marrakech and the California Golf Resort, Casablanca, the signing of PalmGolf Club Marrakech demonstrates the ownerships confidence in Troon for its winning philosophy of prestigious venues with exemplary course conditioning and superior levels of service.
Previously known as the Palmeraie Golf Club, the newly named PalmGolf Club Marrakech is an exciting move forward for the historic Robert Trent Jones course. The legendary Jones first came to the region overseeing such classic works as the Royal Dar Es Salem in Rabat and the Royal Palace Golf course in Agadir. Jones would be proud of the great reputation the course has held for so many years as it has stood the test of time as both a true championship course, which ensures a challenge for experienced players and a warm initiation for the beginners. The Palmeraie Development Group strives to provide strong values of expertise, excellence and luxury in its numerous projects in the major cities of the Kingdom of Morocco. The 27-hole championship venue adds to an already impressive portfolio of existing Troon-managed properties in the region, bringing the total up to eight venues benefitting from the market-leader’s expert knowledge.
“We are delighted that the Palmeraie Development Group has chosen Troon to manage PalmGolf Club Marrakech – yet another resort from their selection of world-class venues in Morocco,” stated Bruce Glasco, Troon’s senior vice president and managing director, international operations. “This is testament to our ongoing desire to exceed expectations and no surprise that the ownership group has realized the potential of Troon to deliver an unrivalled visitor experience, blanketing this across their existing venues.”
Nestled in the lush Palmgrove of Marrakech, the noteworthy golf course at PalmGolf Club fully utilizes its stunning backdrop of the snow-capped peaks of the Atlas Mountains within the 27-hole design. The clubhouse is just as striking, shaped like a Moroccan Riad, combining traditional Moroccan art and modern comfort along with 11 luxurious rooms encouraging peace and tranquility.
“The signing of Troon to manage PalmGolf Club was an easy one,” said Stéphane Talbot, general manager, PalmGolf Club Marrakech. “Their ability to install best practices and leading procedures for both the new developments in Casablanca and Marrakech was a clear indicator that our overall guest experience at existing Palmeraie venues could also be enhanced to the same standards. We are confident that PalmGolf Club Marrakech, along with its sister venues, have all the foundations to become some of the world’s most captivating golfing destinations.”
