(WORLEY, Idaho) – PGA of America’s Pacific Northwest Section named Circling Raven Golf Club Director of Golf Tom Davidson the 2013 PGA “Merchandiser of the Year” for resort facilities.
Circling Raven (www.cdacasino.com/golf), a tribally owned and operated amenity of the Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort in the Idaho panhandle, has now received “Merchandiser of the Year” distinction four times in the last six years. In 2010, Davidson became the first professional from the Pacific Northwest Section to earn National PGA “Merchandiser of the Year” for resort facilities.
“This award is a tribute to everyone at the golf course, the Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort and the Coeur d’Alene Tribe,” says Davidson. “Circling Raven is a superb golf course, and the people who care for it and our overall operation are extremely talented and motivated to exceed guests’ expectations.”
Acknowledged for his creative displays, unique offerings and involvement in day-to-day merchandising operations, Davidson was one of 15 award winners out of 1,100 PGA Professionals in Washington, Oregon, Northern Idaho, Western Montana and Alaska to be recognized by his peers.
“Tom is a perfect example of our ‘welcome home’ approach to customer service,” says Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort Chief Executive Officer Dave Matheson. “His leadership, business acumen, attention to detail and deft touch managing staff all contribute to the success and continuing recognition of Circling Raven.”
Davidson, 50, is a native of Logan, Utah and a graduate of Utah State University where he was a member of the men’s golf team. He has been a member of the PGA for 22 years.
Davidson and Circling Raven will be recognized at the Pacific Northwest Section Special Awards Ceremony, March 16, 2014 in Vancouver, Wash.
The award is one of numerous accolades Circling Raven collected during its 10th anniversary season in 2013. In addition to being named a “Best Resort Course” and a “Best Casino Course” by Golfweek, the course was also included on Golf Digest’s biennial “America’s 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses” list and earned a TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence for exceptional hospitality.
