Volvik staff player Pornanong Phatlum won the Hitachi Classic on the Ladies Asian Golf Tour in Taiwan Sunday using a Pink Vista iS golf ball. She won the event by five strokes over the runner up, shooting -8 in the three round tournament.
“The momentum that Pornanong has going into the 2014 LPGA Tour is amazing,” said Volvik LPGA Tour representative Kevin Deal. “She’s won twice this off-season and has been playing lights out.”
Phatlum also won the Dubai Ladies Masters on the Ladies European Tour winning the Dubai Ladies Masters on the Ladies European Tour December 7.
Phatlum was the first Thai player to win the season-ending Ladies European Tour event in Dubai. She also won the Hero Women’s Open on the Ladies European Tour last year with a Volvik golf ball.
“This win really increases my confidence and inspires me to move forward from this season,” said Phatlum. “Now that I have this trophy, I’m looking forward to having more victories.”
Volvik staff player Thidapa Sunawannapura also won the Hero Women’s Indian Open on the LET Nov. 30 by three shots at the Delhi Golf Club with a new prototype Volvik golf ball, giving Volvik three victories in the LPGA Tour off-season. Sunawannapura’s victory is the first win for the new hybrid white/color golf ball that is launching Jan. 22 at the 2014 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Fla.
Phatlum earned four Top 5’s and seven Top 10’s in 2013 on the LPGA Tour, earning over $600,000. Her 3rd place finish in Naples, FL secured her a Top 25 spot on the official LPGA Tour money list at #23. It is far and away a career year for Phatlum on the LPGA Tour, her first full year playing Volvik golf balls.
“I have learned how to stay focused through meditation which I practice with my brother, who caddies for me,” said Phatlum.”When I’m on the course I just play my game and I didn’t think about the win, or like, I don’t want to pressure myself.”
