ORLANDO, Fla. – Winners were recently announced in the 21st Annual International Network of Golf Media Awards program at the PGA Merchandise Show. A total of 43 First-Place and Outstanding Achiever awards were handed out, which was a 31 percent increase from last year.
This year the Golf Insiders radio show, hosted and produced by Holly “G” Geoghegan, and cohosted with Class A PGA Professional Rich Bianco, North Florida PGA Section, received two ING awards in the Radio Category. The double honor marked the fourth time in the past five years that the Golf Insiders has received national recognition.
The Golf Insiders claimed its third Outstanding Achiever award. This year the show was recognized for its 2013 Masters Wrap Up. In 2009, The Golf Insiders took home First Place honors in the Radio Show category, the first year the show aired.
In the Radio Segment Category, The Golf Insiders picked up an Outstanding Achiever Award for Geoghegan’s interview of LPGA Hall of Famer Nancy Lopez.
The Golf Insiders format is modeled after ESPN TV’s Sports Reporters. It features a weekly line-up of the nation’s top, award-winning golf reporters and journalists. The show gives golf fans a unique perspective from the people who cover the sport on a weekly basis. Reporters from the Golf Channel and ESPN as well as writers from major national and international print and digital publications like Golfweek, Global Golf Post and others bring late breaking and exclusive news from around the world of golf each week. Award-winning journalists from local Tour stops and Major venues such as Detroit’s Vartan Kupelian, (PGATour.com & former Detroit News columnist) and Philadelphia’s Mike Kern (Philadelphia Daily News) also share their insights about the game.
The Golf Insiders airs from 6-7 p.m. Wednesdays on Clear Channel Radio AM 740 The Game as well as across the globe on iHeartRadio.com. The Golf Insiders can also be heard via podcasts that are posted and archived at www.thegolfinsiders.com. The show will begin its seventh season with the first stop on the Florida Swing, the 2014 Honda Classic, Feb. 24 – March 2.
