Lewis finishes T13 at Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic
Ponte Vedra Beach, FL – At a Board of Directors meeting this morning, CEO and Chairman Kristin McLauchlan announced that Legacy Trust Family Wealth Offices has renewed their sponsorship with LPGA tour player and Jacksonville native, Amelia Lewis. This is the third year of their relationship. Lewis has her best professional finish this past weekend at the Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic, firing a 66 with two eagles in the third round to find herself at 12-under par for the tournament and tied for 13th.
Lewis is in her third year as a touring professional and has earned her cards on both the LPGA and Ladies European Tour (LET). As a student at the Bolles School, (Jacksonville, FL) Amelia was a three-time All-First Coast Player of the Year and the 2009 Florida First Coast Scholar Athlete. She was the winner of the 107th North and South Women’s Amateur at Pinehurst (2009), and was at one point ranked 3rd in Golfweek Women’s Amateur golf rankings. Amelia amassed more than 50 junior and amateur titles. Amelia went to the University of Florida before turning pro in 2011 at age 19.
The relationship between Ms. Lewis and Legacy Trust is unique in that it will focus mostly on Lewis’ ability to help Legacy Trust build relationships with clients and prospects. Typically, a relationship with a professional athlete focuses on media exposure. While Ms. Lewis will sport a Legacy Trust logo on her left sleeve during all playing opportunities, the main focus of this sponsorship is client entertainment. Uniquely philanthropic, Ms. Lewis will also have Legacy Trust administer her Foundation, which she plans to launch in the coming months.
Said McLauchlan, who herself played college golf at Michigan and still carries a single-digit handicap, “Amelia continues to drive herself to excellence and toward success. She represents well the values of our company. She is a good person, a hard worker and goal-driven. These are the things we want our employees, our clients and the community to see in our company and we think Amelia can successfully help us project that image.”

No stranger to the golf business, Legacy Trust was the “Official Wealth Management Firm” of the Nationwide Tour’s Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open, and, when the tournament became the Web.com Tour Championship took on a roll as one of the event’s five Founding Partners. Saiud McLUachlan, “we know from our research that our clients enjoy watching and playing golf. The combination of sponsoring a premier event and a premier player, aligns well with our marketing plans.” She continued, “It’s a given that athletes at this level have great talent. What we see in Amelia is a talented player who also has personality, drive and commitment to the community. We’re putting her in front of our clients – people who have been successful in their own fields for their entire lives – and our player has to handle the role of ambassador for us. Our business is about relationships and Amelia can help us strengthen the bond between us and our client families.”
Ms. Lewis is Jacksonville’s first professional female golfer to join the LPGA in over 20 years. Amelia is committed to her fans and to helping aspiring junior golfers. On her own website Amelia provides helpful tips, nutritional information and in-depth information on competing at the junior golf, amateur golf and professional golf levels. With her inspiring path through the ranks, Amelia provides a unique perspective of her on- and off-the-course experiences, passing along invaluable advice to younger golfers who are following in her footsteps.
“Kristin and I see the world through a very similar lens,” shared Ms. Lewis in a meet and greet session with Legacy Trust employee. She added, “As a woman in the wealth management field, she has built a successful company from scratch by working hard and surrounding herself with good people. That’s as inspirational to me as I can hopefully be to them. In Legacy Trust, I have found a sponsor who can grow with me, who can support me and who believes in me. It’s great that they are local because we’ll truly feel like we’re part of the same team.”
