Alexandria, VA – February 25, 2014 – The Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) is proud to announce today that it has named two new Master Club Managers. The MCM designation recognizes the importance of the significant, long-lasting contributions made by club managers to their clubs, their professions and their communities. In addition, the MCM designation in club management provides the means by which experienced club managers can make a significant written contribution to their industry.
In 1990, the CMAA Board of Directors delegated the task of developing its MCM designation to its Certification Committee. Since that time the requirements and procedures which comprise this MCM Portfolio have been implemented to yield a meaningful and challenging, but achievable, professional development for CMAA’s membership.
The MCM designation was officially bestowed to these two deserving individuals at the Awards and Conference Finale of the recent 87th World Conference and Club Business Expo in Orlando, FL, February 8, 2014:
• Michael S. Wheeler, MCM, CCE, General Manager/Chief Operating Officer of Cherokee Town & Country Club, Atlanta, GA. Wheeler’s monograph is entitled Club Culture: Are Your Practicing What You Believe In?
• Lawrence J. McKenzie, MCM, CCE, of London, Ontario, Canada. McKenzie’s monograph is entitled An Economically Sustainable Business Model for Private Clubs: A Blueprint to Prosperity in the 21st Century.
The Club Managers Association of America would like to extend sincere congratulations to its newest MCMs. For more information on the MCM designation and requirements, please visit www.cmaa.org/Certification.aspx. You can access all of the MCM monographs at www.cmaa.org/MCM.aspx.
