Hopkins Golf custom wedges and Hopkinsgolf.com tested by Golf Life
Denver, CO: Recently Golf Life Television and Executive Producer Mike Billingsley agreed to test the process of customizing golf wedges online through www.HopkinsGolf.com. Golf industry veteran Greg Hopkins used his experience as CEO of a major golf company to start the self-named wedge business founded Hopkins Golf in 2013.
Hopkins Golf uses a tour level wedge design and three unique finishes as the basis for their custom wedge business. Many professional players have noted the tour quality of the wedge, as Hopkins has been able to rapidly become the 3rd leading wedge on the Champions Tour. Golf Life wanted to learn how these wedges could be customized through the website and report on the out of box experience.
The process on Hopkinsgolf.com requires that you first choose the finish for the club head made from 8620 Carbon Steel. Options include a Satin Chrome, Tour Raw (which will rust naturally) and Black Satin. Golf Life chose the black satin finish and ordered a set of wedges to compare options provided on the website.
According to Mike Billingsley of Golf Life TV, who tested the wedges, he wanted to learn how much customization could be accomplished and the level of detail provided to help the customer make educated choices. “In the opinion of Golf Life, hopkinsgolf.com really makes the steps of choosing the right bounce, shaft, grip, loft, lie and length very interactive and informative. We spent quite a bit of time customizing as we learned more,” Billingsley said.
The Hopkins custom wedge experience provides the customer the ability to choose from three custom grinds and select from 11 steel shafts and 4 graphite shafts. In addition, customers can select from dozens of grips with different color options and colored ferrules to match the look.
“We liked that we could choose the length of the wedge, and change the loft and lie for each wedge separately. We fell this is helpful to allow a golfer to get proper gap spacing between his wedge set,” Mike Billingsley of Golf Life TV states. “When they arrived we immediately noted the quality and the fact that they were built exactly as ordered. They came to our door in less than two days from ordering. Hopkins really impressed us with the service and the wedges are very well made,” he continues.
One of the things that might concern golfers ordering custom wedges online would be how they perform and the ability to ensure details like engraving and other customizations are correct. Hopkins golf told Golf Life that they would provide a thirty day money back guarantee if the wedges did not meet expectations.
“I’d have to say, the money back guarantee was what made this work and why I introduced this type of custom wedge to our Golf Life viewers. If we are going to endorse a product or a process like this, we want to test it first and make sure the viewer is not a risk. I found it to be an enjoyable experience and I’m happy with the results,” Billingsley adds.
