Stafford, Va. – PGA Professional Michael Pastirik of Peebles Golf Cars in Glen Allen, Va., a Club Car distributor, has been selected as the 2014 MAPGA Salesperson of the Year. This award bestows special recognition on a golf salesperson in the mid-Atlantic region for his/her outstanding service and dedication to the members and apprentices of the MAPGA, as well as support of the Section through sponsorships and other programs. Pastirik will be recognized in front of the membership at the MAPGA Hall of Fame and Awards banquet to be held on March 8, 2014 at The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Va.
Pastirik has been an employee with Peebles for almost 10 years and has been working in the golf industry for nearly 15 years. However, his career following college did not begin with golf. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Statistics, and entered the corporate world as a Technical Project Manager in the Healthcare industry and then as a Quality Manager with Owens Illinois.
During his time with Owens Illinois, Pastirik played golf regularly at Massanutten Resort near Harrisonburg, Va. It was at this point in his life, when he decided to pursue a career in golf. One of his earlier golf jobs was as an assistant professional at the Country Club of Virginia in Richmond where he earned their Quarterly Service Award and their Platinum Service Example. He also received an MAPGA AHEAD Scholarship for his performance in Level 3 of the PGA’s Professional Golf Management Program. In the fall of 2004, he accepted his current position with Peebles Golf Cars.
Throughout his 10 years with Peebles, Pastirik has received the Club Car Superior Sales Award twice (2006, 2009) and has been instrumental in the relationship between Club Car and the MAPGA. This relationship has given MAPGA professionals great playing opportunities with their employers through the Pro-President events and in a competitive mode with the Head Professional Championship. Club Car’s support of the MAPGA also helps in subsidizing the printing costs of the MAPGA Directory. Pastirik, in particular, has been very loyal to assistant professionals by sponsoring the Assistant Championship and the Pro-Assistant Championship. He along with Peebles has shown unwavering support of PGA Professionals.
