CARLSBAD, Calif. (March 3, 2014) – A former U.S. Women’s Open champion used Nippon Shaft N.S. PRO V90 steel shafts in her irons Sunday en route to winning the HSBC Women’s Champions in Singapore on the second playoff hole.
The victory was the first since the 2010 Women’s Open for the 27-year-old LPGA Tour star who drained a 75-foot eagle putt to close the competition. The native Californian started the day trailing the leader by four strokes and finished tied with one other player at 10-under par for the 72-hole tournament.
“Nippon Shaft is very happy that our products were chosen by one of America’s premier players to win the HSBC Women’s Champions event in Singapore,” said Hiro Fukuda, sales and marketing for the Japanese club maker. “We congratulate her on this outstanding victory – and a fantastic putt on the second playoff hole!”
The winner shot 67-73-69-69-278 in regulation, one stroke ahead of Nippon Shaft player Karrie Webb, who triumphed last week.
