Rancho Viejo, Texas – Wendy Werley Bullock, director of sports and wellness at Rancho Viejo Resort & Country Club, has earned the Top 50 Kids Teachers Award for the second year in a row, the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation announced recently at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Fl.
The U.S. Kids Golf Top 50 Kids Teachers Award annually recognizes the world’s most outstanding youth golf instructors. The class of 2013 includes golf professionals from 21 states, Canada, Costa Rica and Mexico, with recipients chosen from a record 747 applicants. Werley has the opportunity next year to be recognized with the Master Kids Teacher Award, given to someone who is named a Top 50 Kids Teacher three times.
Since 2004, U.S. Kids Golf (www.uskidsgolf.com) has honored golf’s best teachers with the Top 50 Kids Teacher Award. Applicants complete an online survey and winners are chosen based on their contributions to junior golf, such as: time devoted to teaching young golfers; innovation, creativity and fun in their programs; communication; parental involvement; and overall effort to grow the game.
“I’m honored to be recognized by an organization so dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of golf, while making the sport fun,” said Werley. “Golf is about discipline, responsibility and etiquette, important life tools, especially for kids.”
A Class-A member of the LPGA, Werley also is an accomplished athlete who not only competed professionally in the U.S. and Japan in golf, but also advanced to the finals in the U.S. Olympic Tennis Trials in 1984. She also trademarked Wellness Golf, a program developed through her collaboration with Dr. Deepak Chopra, one of the world’s most foremost experts in mind body medicine.
