Canton, MA — The International Clubmakers Guild (ICG) a non-profit member owned organization formed to service membership in all aspects of the golf industry announced at the 2014 PGA Merchandise Show that it was establishing a Hall of Fame to honor members that have made major contributions to the ICG and the Golf Industry.
The following announcement from ICG President Steve Newton establishes the Hall of Fame and names the inaugural class of 2014.
The ICG Hall of Fame has been established to recognize ICG members and sponsors who have made significant contributions to the golf industry in one or more of the following categories: club making, club fitting, equipment & tool design, instruction (repair, teaching, assembly, fitting, etc.), and/or provided noteworthy service for the betterment of the ICG.
Inductees for the Inaugural Class of 2014 are: (in alphabetical order):
1. Charles Blume – for noteworthy service by establishing a corporate accounting system and developing basic operating budget processes as the first ICG Treasurer
2. Rick Canter – for noteworthy service as first ICG President, drafting ICG By-Laws, and for filing official non-profit organization status with state of Massachusetts
3. Bob Dodds – for noteworthy service by expanding ICG presence through formal agreement made with Sosan Corp to promote ICG Certification, and as chairman of ICG Connection Center committee
4. Tim Hewitt – for noteworthy service as creator of ICG web site and first chairman of ICG Internet committee
5. Dave Hohnke – for contributions in instruction and noteworthy service in support of the ICG Certification exam development as one of the original members of the ICG Technical committee
6. Don Johnson – for noteworthy service as chairman of ICG Technical committee and contributing member in support of the ICG Connection Center committee
7. Ed Mitchell – for contributions in equipment & tool design and instruction
8. Niimi Kiyorani (“Doc” Niimi) – for contributions in equipment & tool design and instruction, and for his support and promotion of ICG Certification throughout the Asian region
9. Jeff Summitt – for contributions in equipment & tool design and instruction
10. Tom Wishon – for contributions in equipment & tool design and instruction
Each inductee will receive a wooden plaque commemorating induction to the Hall of Fame and an ICG logo golf shirt.
Each inductee will also have a dedicated page for their photo and personal biography in the Hall of Fame section of the ICG web site.
