Survey of members Identify Arizona’s “Most Appealing Golf Courses for Women”
Scottsdale, Ariz. (March 11, 2014) – Troon,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to recognize four of its facilities named among the “Most Appealing Golf Courses for Women” in Arizona by the Arizona Women’s Golf Association.
Members from across the state were surveyed by the AWGA through the association’s “Golf Endorsed by Members” (GEM) program, providing a multitude of personal opinions and golf course evaluations. The results delivered an impressive list of the most highly graded courses that provide a great golf experience for women.
Troon-managed facilities named among the “Most Appealing Golf Courses for Women” in Arizona by the AWGA include:
Copper Canyon Golf Club – Buckeye, Ariz.
The Gallery Golf Club – Marana, Ariz.
Poston Butte Golf Club – Florence, Ariz.
Whirlwind Golf Club at Wild Horse Pass – Chandler, Ariz.
“Troon recognizes the importance of creating a welcoming atmosphere for all players who are interested in the game,” stated Ryan Walls, Troon’s senior vice president, operations, sales & marketing. “Our facilities strive to create a positive environment for women golfers and these four facilities recognized in Arizona certainly deliver on that experience.”
The courses listed on the AWGA’s list represent facilities that had the most number of surveys submitted and had the highest scores. In order to be included, a golf course must also have a current USGA women’s Course Rating for at least one tee.
“The AWGA’s GEM program is designed to enable average women golfers to recommend courses to play for other women, and to also offer feedback to course management for changes and improvements that might enhance their appeal to women,” stated Mary Pomroy, executive director, Arizona Women’s Golf Association. “This is the second year for these designations, and we are very pleased to see the number of Troon-managed courses that make the GEM list continue to grow.”
The GEM survey evaluated the golf course experience in the following areas: customer service; outside player assistance; food and beverage; golf shop merchandise available for women – availability of various sizes and styles; club house facilities; practice facilities; availability and accessibility of restrooms on and off the course; beauty of design and landscaping; course conditions; playability; challenge; overall enjoyment of the golf course; and overall value of the experience.
