PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – (April 1, 2014) – The focus is on warm weather, outstanding competition and a world-class resort as the April edition of the Traveling Golfer television show casts the spotlight on the Jamaica Invitational Pro-Am, commonly known as Annie’s Revenge.
With the support of presenting sponsor Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum; host site, the Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall; and tournament organizer, The Golf Connection, the Jamaica Invitational Pro- Am has become one of the premier pro-am tournaments in the world. Named “Annie’s Revenge” after a famous Jamaican legend, the tournament is an amazing mix of great competition and even greater festivities.
Traveling Golfer host Tony Leodora takes an inside look at the resort, the tournament and the golf courses. White Witch, Cinnamon Hill and Half Moon Bay present an exciting and picturesque backdrop to the week of competition. The beaches, restaurants, clubs and activities at the Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall provide the rest.
“We are very honored to have this festive and prestigious event come to our island each year,” explains Jamaica Tourist Board Deputy Director Donnie Dawson. “We know that the people who play in the event are excited, but we are equally excited to welcome them to Jamaica.”
The Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall – along with the nearby White Witch, Cinnamon Hill and Half Moon Bay golf courses – are located along the spectacular Montego Bay region of Jamaica. The Iberostar Grand Hotel is a five-star all-inclusive resort that provides every possible amenity for those who participate in the Jamaica Invitational Pro-Am and their guests.
“We consider this to be our flagship pro-am event of the year,” explains Tom Jaronski, president of The Golf Connection. “Although all of our events are considered to be top-shelf, the event in Jamaica is our oldest and largest.”
“I have played in the Jamaica Invitational twice in past years and found it to be the finest pro-am event of the many pro-ams I have seen in my career,” says Traveling Golfer host Tony Leodora. “I was very happy to bring the highlights of this season’s event to our viewers. Hopefully, they will get to play in the event some year. If not, they can experience some of the excitement by watching the show.”
The episode begins airing April 1 and runs throughout the month on The Traveling Golfer Network (see list of sites on www.travelinggolfervideo.com). It also will air on Monday, April 14 as part of the Press Box show in Myrtle Beach, 5 to 7 p.m. on HTC Ch. 4, and as part of the Inside Golf television show on Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia and Comcast SportsNet in Baltimore/Washington during the last week of April.
Responding to golfers’ never-ending demands to learn more about interesting golf courses and golf resorts across the country and around the world, well-traveled host Tony Leodora created the Traveling Golfer so he could take viewers on video golf trips to some of the most exciting golf locations.
The Traveling Golfer appears as a series of monthly shows hosted by Leodora, who has 15 years of experience in televised golf shows. The featured destination stays on the website for one month, before being replaced by a new show. The old shows are archived on the home website, www.travelinggolfervideo.com.
A network of golf websites, of all sizes, has been created to host the show. The show will have its own website — www.travelinggolfervideo.com.
