GAYLORD, Mich. — It’s invigorating, inclusive and intended for ladies who find learning the game of golf easiest when fun is involved.
The Ladies Golf Schools at Northern Michigan’s nationally acclaimed Treetops Resort return for the 18th consecutive year. Despite years of success, they are reinvigorated with 10 schools offered, including new three-day, two-night options for the cost and time-conscious woman to go with the traditional four-day, three-night offerings.
Two schools in May and four each in June and July will welcome beginners, seasoned players and anyone in between. Personal instruction will focus on the short game and full swing while also improving each student’s overall knowledge of the game.
Incomparable on-course components will cover common challenges that many women face when they take their games from the practice center to the course, and as always the schools are structured to provide the golfer the tools needed to make the greatest amount of improvement in the shortest amount of time.
“We present a lot of information, but we do it in a comfortable way,” said Judy Mason, the lead instructor for the 16th year. “We have a great student-to-teacher ratio, we are never over-bearing and we allow the ladies to find their pace and work at it. We want the ladies to relax once they are in our school and have fun. Over the years we’ve found that having fun along the way allows the golfer to learn easier and retain much more.”
The traditional three-day, three-night options, which costs $669 per person, and the new three-day, two-night options, which cost $549 per person, include a golf swing video component for instruction and discussion purposes, full swing analysis and correction, help with chipping, putting and pitching and on-course work with tee box alignment, playing from fairway and greenside bunkers, playing from side hill and downhill lies, reading greens and more.
Also included is unlimited golf on the world-class selection of five championship golf courses at Treetops, a feature that is especially popular with the “alumni” who return for continued instruction and improvement. In fact, all of the schools this year include special alumni incentives and a gift to bring newcomers along.
“We have golfers who are true beginners in the game and working on it for the first time, and we have some ladies who come back almost every year to pick up more, but nobody is put in the intimidating position of having to perform in front of others,” Mason said. “Each golfer has a certain way that they learn best and we find that way and have a lot of fun at the same time.”
