BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The No. 1 graphite iron shaft on the PGA, Champions and LPGA Tours, SteelFiber shafts by Aerotech Golf took second-place at the Shell Houston Open. The game-changing innovation of SteelFiber shafts have accounted for 15 wins and Top 10 finishes already this year.

The Shell Houston Open runner-up and 2012 The Players Championship winner played SteelFiber i95 shafts in his Bridgestone irons, and shot a strong 66-67-68-72 (273) which led the rest of the field by two or more strokes. He won solo honors for second-place and was No. 1 in Greens in Regulation, hitting 62 of 72 (86.11%) during the event.

“The performance benefits of SteelFiber shafts continues to set it apart on all the top U.S. tours,” says Chris Hilleary, president of Aerotech Golf. “The innovative, game-changing technology of SteelFiber shafts combines the performance characteristics of graphite shafts which produce greater vibration dampening and less fatigue with those of steel shafts which typically give more consistency. We’re very excited to see more and more golfers, both pro and amateur alike, discover the benefits of playing SteelFiber.”

Last year, players with SteelFiber shafts in their irons won five events on the PGA TOUR and two events on the Champions Tour. In addition, players with SteelFiber shafts ranked No. 2 and No. 3 in the FedEx Cup Season Points at the end of the regular season. SteelFiber shafts were also No. 6 and No. 12 in FedEx Cup Playoff Points; and ended 2013 overall as No. 3 and No. 5 on the PGA Money List; Nos. 8 and 9 in official world rankings; and tied for first and fourth in Top 10 finishes.

SteelFiber shafts provide superior performance through innovative composite engineering that combines a high-modulus graphite core with 59 miles of steel fiber lacing the shaft surface. The shaft’s graphite core provides vibration dampening, increased clubhead speed and maximum distance, while the steel fibers produce optimum weighting for a solid feel at impact and add stability and control for pinpoint accuracy.
