Four Volvik players using three different colors finish in top 20
Volvik staff player Meena Lee finished 2nd at the North Texas Shootout on the LPGA Tour Sunday, while a total of four Volvik players using Orange, Yellow and Pink golf balls finished in the Top 20 at the event.
Lee took the lead of the North Texas Shootout at Las Colinas Country Club in the 2nd round where she fired a tournament record 64 with her Yellow Volvik golf ball. She maintained a tie for the lead the rest of the event until the eventual winner made her move Sunday.
Lee birdied the final hole to finish 2nd by herself and to earn $119,765. Lee ranked 2nd in Putts Per Round for the event with 114 total putts and ranked 6th in Fairways hit.
“I gained a lot of confidence this week and then we have one week off next week and then we still have four tournaments to go after that,” said Lee. “So I’m very excited and happy in what I can do. So excited.”
Lee has won twice on the LPGA Tour and has earned a total of 30 Top 10 finishes in her nine year professional career.
“My last one was 2006,” said Lee ” It’s been a while. I’m very excited and kind of nervous, but I’m definitely enjoying the moment.”
Volvik players have already experienced five Top 5’s and 28 Top 25’s after ten events on the 2014 LPGA Tour.
Other players finishing in the Top 20 at the Dallas event include Chella Choi (T14), Pornanong Phatlum (T19) and Thidapa Suwannapura (T19). Currently, four players using Volvik color golf balls rank in the Top 40 on the LPGA Tour money list: Chella Choi (Orange) – 10th, Meena Lee (Yellow) – 22nd Pornanong Phatlum (Pink)- 23rd and Mi Hyang Lee (Orange)- 38th. Last year, three Volvik staff players finished in the Top 25 on the LPGA Tour money list.
