Lewis claims her first 2014 victory using Mizuno JPX irons and MP wedges
Norcross, Ga. (May 5, 2014) – Mizuno Brand Ambassador Stacy Lewis captured her first LPGA tour victory of the year in truly dominating fashion with the largest margin of victory on tour since 2012. Utilizing Mizuno’s JPX-825 Pro Irons, a JPX-825 Hybrid, MP-650 3-wood and MP T-11 wedges, Lewis won the tournament going against the world’s top female golfers at Las Colinas Country Club in Irving, Texas. Lewis capped off an incredible tournament shooting a seven-under 64 final for a total score of 16-under, claiming victory by six shots.
Lewis, a Woodland, Texas native, provided golf fans a victory for the ages by overcoming a slow start on Saturday to catch fire in the final round earning a six-shot victory over Meena Lee of South Korea. Tied with Lee to start the final day, Lewis buried a 25-foot eagle putt on the par five seventh and followed it up with consecutive birdies on eight and nine holes to open up a three-shot lead she would never relinquish.
“Stacy has been on top of her game throughout the 2014 season with six runner-up finishes in her last 16 starts, so it was only a matter of time before she won a golf tournament,” said Chuck Couch, Vice President of Product Management, Golf Division for Mizuno USA, Inc. “We’d like to congratulate Stacy on her 9th career LPGA Tour victory and first of 2014. Her amazing iron play and shot-making abilities around the green propelled her to victory and we couldn’t be more proud.”
The incredible impact and influence of golf on the LPGA’s top-rated American player transcends the sport, providing an incredible story beyond the greens. Recently, as part of Mizuno’s popular Play Famously campaign, a powerful video, “Golf vs. Scoliosis,” was released showcasing Lewis’ drive and determination to overcome a medical condition that could have sidelined her career before it even started.
