(Canmore, Alberta) – Several Alberta Rockies golf courses (www.canadianrockiesgolf.net) – a collection of inspiring mountain layouts in Banff, Jasper and Canmore – were named “Best in Canada” by Golfweek magazine this week.
The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course (No. 1) and The Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course (No. 3) remain in the top three of the prestigious “Classic” rankings, for courses that opened before 1960.
In the “Modern” rankings (courses that opened after 1960), Stewart Creek Golf & Country Club moved up two spots to No. 27.
They join Canmore Golf & Curling Club, Silvertip Resort and Kananaskis Country to form the esteemed golf destination, and are indicative of the venue’s collective quality.
To determine its “best-of” lists, Golfweek enlists hundreds of raters in North America to play and rate courses on several criteria. One of its raters, Senior Travel Editor Marty Kaufmann, wrote this about the Alberta Canadian Rockies golf destination after visiting the area. “Throughout, there was the sense that we had discovered a wonderful treasure in the mountains.”
Visit the Canadian Rockies this season and take advantage of an array of value-laden stay-and-play packages, including the Heritage Helicopter Tour Package. Starting at $674 per person, the package includes four night’s accommodations, two rounds of golf and a thrilling helicopter tour.
Shoulder season rates are available to start the season, with all of the courses scheduled to be open by May 15 (except Kananaskis Country, which will remain closed throughout the year due to flooding last summer).
