Leading maker of golf cars and one of central Florida’s time-honored resorts team up for meeting success
Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. (May 12, 2014) – When it comes to running a fleet of golf cars or hosting a fleet of golf-car manufacturers, Mission Inn Resort and Yamaha Golf-Car Company know how to put things in drive.
The family-owned Mission Inn-nestled on 1,100 acres of rolling citrus hills in Central Florida and celebrating 50 years of family ownership-has been a Yamaha facility for three years, hosting a fleet of Yamaha golf cars for its resort guests and members. And in a few weeks, the resort will host Yamaha’s national sales meeting, with the company’s dealers, distributors, and international guests taking over the property for four days.
“Yamaha will be the only group in-house from May 18 through 21,” says Dawn Lafferty, Mission Inn’s Senior Sales Manager. “That’s a big appeal to a group like this: They can virtually own the resort and have it exclusively for their use the entire time.”
With more than 250 guests, Yamaha is taking every one of the resort’s 176 rooms. The group also will use the main ballroom and numerous breakout rooms for meetings. When not meeting, there will be all meals, receptions, and a host of outdoor activities. Attendees will go fishing as well as trap and skeet shooting, enjoy the on-site Spa Marbella, and, of course, play golf on the resort’s two exciting 18-hole courses-El Campeón (one of the oldest courses in Florida, originally opening in 1917) and Las Colinas (1992).
“Just as Yamaha takes care of our cars, we’ll take care of them,” says Lafferty, “everything they need, soup to nuts, meetings and activities. We’ll even have breakfast sushi and rice on our breakfast buffets because there will be a number of Japanese dignitaries in attendance. In fact, I’m looking for a source of Japanese-language newspapers right now.”
Along with staging a meeting together, Mission Inn and Yamaha are in an advertisement together. In the latest issue of PGA Magazine, resort Vice President and General Manager Bud Beucher appears with Yamaha spokesman Lee Trevino. Calling Yamaha golf cars, “the best drive of the day,” Beucher-who represents the second generation of the Inn’s family ownership-says that Yamaha is “a fleet we can depend on,” and invites readers to call him directly and ask why Mission Inn chose Yamaha cars.
There’s no question why Yamaha chose Mission Inn for its national sales meeting.
Located 45 minutes from Orlando International Airport, Mission Inn Resort underwent a total upgrade last year, from guest rooms to food and beverage, plus new team-building and conference facilities.
