ANAHEIM, CA. – May 14, 2014 – The First Tee of Orange County, CA, a non-profit organization formed to positively impact the young people of Orange County, is pleased to announce the appointment of Gail Krause as the chapter’s new Executive Director.
Krause brings over twenty years of non-profit management, fundraising and public relations experience to her new assignment. She most recently served as Public Relations Manager for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and Sheriff Sandra Hutchens. Prior to that, Krause served as Community Relations Manager for Cox Communications and Director of the Cox Cares Foundation. She served Saint Joseph Ballet (The Wooden Floor) as Managing Director and Chief Fundraising Officer. Krause has a Master of Arts Degree in Non-Profit Management from Golden Gate University, San Francisco.
According to The First Tee of Orange County President Tim Casey, “We are excited to welcome Gail as our new Executive Director. She is an experienced non-profit executive and professional fundraiser, who also loves the game of golf. I am confident that she will help guide The First Tee of Orange County to the next level.”

This is an extraordinary youth development program with a proven national track record. We have an opportunity to bring The First Tee’s Life Skills, Core Values and Healthy Habits curriculum to thousands of Orange County kids.”
The First Tee of Orange County impacts the young people in the Orange County community through its life skills education and character training. Each of these participants will be introduced to the lifelong sport of golf while learning skills such as goal-setting, managing emotions and resolving conflicts. The program emphasizes Nine Core Values™ (confidence, responsibility, respect, honesty, judgment, perseverance, sportsmanship, integrity, and courtesy) at every level of instruction.

An independent research study confirmed that youth involved in The First Tee Life Skills Experience learn and use life skills on the golf course and transfer these skills to other areas of their life. In fact, 100% of The First Tee participants interviewed said they transferred life skills learned at The First Tee to school. Seventy-eight percent are transferring skills such as decision making, setting goals and managing their emotions from the golf course to other areas of their lives including situations with friends, family, after school activities and jobs. The study also revealed The First Tee Life Skills Experience’s ability to impart core values on youth. After participating in The First Tee for three years, 73% reported high confidence in their academic ability and 82% felt confident in their social abilities with peers.
