‘The hottest shafts in golf sweeps shaft manufacturer counts at HP Byron Nelson Championship
POWAY, Calif. – Benefitting from the outstanding performance and unparalleled consistency of Aldila’s Tour Blue shaft in his 3 Wood, the HP Byron Nelson Champ picked up his first PGA tour win. He shot a 14-under 266 (68-64-68-66) to win by two strokes.
The winner was one of many players in the Texas tournament who played Aldila’s Tour Blue or Tour Green shafts. There were a total of 75 Tour Blue/Tour Green shafts in play at HP Byron Nelson Championship, according to the Darrell Survey.
With those numbers, Aldila easily swept the shaft manufacturer counts at the HP Byron Nelson Championship winning the driver shaft count by seven, the wood shaft count by 23 and the hybrid shaft count by 15.
On the European Tour, the Open de Espana winner played Aldila’s Tour Blue shafts in his Driver, 3 Wood, 5 Wood and 7 Wood en route to his 21st victory on the European Tour. He switched to the Tour Blue in his Driver in November 2013 and has been playing Aldila’s Tour Blue shafts in his other fairway woods since February. Since then he has finished fourth at Augusta, won his only start on the Champions Tour and won on the European Tour.
At the Byron Nelson Championship, “The Hottest Shafts In Golf” also had the Top 3 Driver Shaft Brand Models – Rogue, Tour Green 65 and Tour Blue 65. It also had the Top 3 Wood Shaft Brand Models – Rogue, Tour Blue 75 and Tour Blue 85. The leading Hybrid Shaft Brand Model was Aldila’s Tour Blue 85.
“Aldila’s Tour Blue/Green shafts are engineered with Next Generation Micro Laminate Technology™ to maximize the power of your golf swing,” said John Oldenburg, Aldila’s Vice President of Engineering and Product Development. “The Tour Blue is moderate stiff tip shaft and very low torque designed for a slightly higher ball flight with low to moderate spin rate. The Tour Green is a stiff tip shaft with moderate torque designed for lower/penetrating ball flight producing a lower spin rate.”
According to Oldenburg, the shaft profiles of the Tour Blue and Tour Green have a constant taper to provide exceptional feel and a smooth, controlled release. The shafts are made with the latest generation of Aldila’s Micro Laminate materials (MLT). The ultra thin, ultra strong material allows for the construction of a shaft with outstanding performance and unparalleled consistency.
“Aldila’s Next Generation Micro Laminate Technology is comprised of ultra-thin layers of premium, low resin aerospace grade materials,” he said. “This design evolution eliminates inconsistent shaft performance caused by material variability. Redesigned tooling also raises the shaft balance point, making this the perfect upgrade for today’s modern club head designs.”
Aldila (www.aldila.com) offers patented shaft design technologies that consistently outperform other shafts available. This technology advantage is the reason Aldila is the most popular graphite shaft on the PGA Tour. Tour professionals recognize Aldila’s advanced performance and year after year that there are more Aldila wood and hybrid shafts in play on Tour than any other shaft manufacturer. Whether the Micro Laminate Technology™ first introduced in Aldila NV™, the most popular graphite ever or today’s Next Generation Micro Laminate Technology, Aldila engineers are continually pushing and advancing high performance graphite golf shaft technology well beyond any other manufacturer.
