BOULDER, Colo. (May 21, 2014) — The 2013 Master’s champion and KBS player moved into the No. 1 spot on the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) after the Byron Nelson Championship last weekend.
Named the 2013 Male Player of the Year by the Golf Writers Association of America, this golfer has been playing the KBS TOUR 130g shaft since 2009. He has compiled a total of nine professional wins and since switching into KBS, his GIR ranking has improved from 162nd in 2009 to 11th in 2013. Last season proved to be his most accomplished yet with four professional wins worldwide.
“To watch his career escalate in a relatively short period of time has been really exciting,” said Kim Braly, director of research and development and Tour operations at KBS. “It’s a huge accomplishment to be one of a select few golfers to reach this honor.”
Since the ratings began in 1983, this player is only the 17th golfer to ever occupy the No. 1 slot on the OWGR.
