(LAHAINA, HI) – Ka’anapali Golf Courses – managed by Billy Casper Golf (BCG), the largest owner-operator of golf courses, country clubs and resorts in America – will host the second annual BMW Hawaii Invitational Pro-Am on May 30-31.
Registration is through Friday, May 23 for the two net-better ball tournament on the championship Royal Ka’anapali course. The $900 entry fee per team includes a practice round, pairings party at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa, continental breakfast, competition round, awards lunch and gift from Nike.
The winning low amateur team earns a spot in the regional qualifier, “The BMW – Ultimate Golf Challenge” held Sept. 11-13 at Ka’anapali, a pre-curser to the BMW U.S. finals at Pinehurst Resort, Oct. 16-19.
“We value our relationship with BMW Hawaii and are excited to again host the BMW Hawaii Invitational Pro-Am,” says Ed Kageyama, General Manager of Ka’anapali Golf Courses. “We look forward to a weekend of camaraderie, great golf and a chance for our guests to play with an Aloha Section PGA member.”
Highlights from the 2013 event include:
• 57 amateurs and 19 Aloha Section PGA members competed
• Kevin Carll defeated Kevin Hayashi in a playoff to win the professional flight
• Golf professional Andrew Feldman and his teammates – Milton Martin, Mel Komatsu and Donna Feldmann – won the pro-am flight with a team score of 20-under-par 122
• Brody Long, David Fugate and Marc Casperino won the amateur flight with a net team score of 15-under-par 127 that included a hole-in-one by Fugate
Opened in 1962 and designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., the par-71, 6,700-yard Royal Course’s wide fairways and undulating greens make it both distinctive and demanding. It hosted the Champions Tour Ka’anapali Classic for 14 years, Shell’s Wonderful World of Golf, the Canada Cup and LPGA Kemper Open, welcoming Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Billy Casper, Greg Norman, Fred Couples, Jan Stephenson, Betsy King and other legends.
Complementing the Royal Course is the modernized Kai Course which hosted Golf Channel’s “Big Break Ka’anapali.” The 6,400-yard, par-70 layout boasts an array of strategically placed bunkers, contoured fairways and resurfaced greens.
