BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The No. 1 graphite iron shaft on all top U.S. Tours, SteelFiber graphite iron shafts by Aerotech Golf delivered another win this week at the FedEx St. Jude Classic on the PGA Tour.
The champion completed a wire-to-wire victory with his 3-over 73 in the final round. He played a Titleist 712U 4-iron and Titleist 714 AP2 irons (5- through 9-iron), all with Aerotech SteelFiber i95 shafts. The win was the fifth PGA Tour victory of his career and the first since 2011. Another FedEx St. Jude Classic player tied for sixth with a SteelFiber i95 in his hybrid club.
On other professional tours, SteelFiber i95 shafts claimed a T10 at the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic on the LPGA Tour as well as a share of second-place at the Legends of Golf tournament on the Champions Tour.
“We congratulate the FedEx St. Jude Classic champion on an exciting wire-to-wire victory this week,” says Chris Hilleary, president of Aerotech Golf. “Playing SteelFiber graphite iron shafts provides players with performance advantages that those still using the basic 80-year-old steel shaft designs simply will never get. For example, SteelFiber’s game-changing technology produces greater vibration dampening, reduces fatigue and increases clubhead speed more than traditional steel shafts while still maintaining the consistency, solid feel and stability players have become accustomed to with steel shafts.”
SteelFiber shafts provide superior performance through innovative composite engineering that combines a high-modulus graphite core with 59 miles of steel fiber lacing the shaft surface. The shaft’s graphite core provides vibration dampening, increased clubhead speed and maximum distance, while the steel fibers produce optimum weighting for a solid feel at impact and add stability and control for pinpoint accuracy.
Last year, players with SteelFiber shafts in their irons won five events on the PGA TOUR and two events on the Champions Tour. Players with SteelFiber shafts also ranked No. 2 and No. 3 in the FedEx Cup Season Points at the end of the regular season. SteelFiber shafts were also No. 6 and No. 12 in FedEx Cup Playoff Points; and ended 2013 overall as No. 3 and No. 5 on the PGA Money List; Nos. 8 and 9 in official world rankings; and tied for first and fourth in Top 10 finishes.
