Mebane, NC native and caddie to 1999 US Open Winner @ Pinehurst
(Franklin, TN – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) SeeMore Putter Company
and Mike Hicks continue to have a long-lasting relationship. Mike Hicks is a SeeMore Putter Institute (SPi) putting instructor. Hicks first played a role in introducing Payne Stewart to the SeeMore putter (FGP bronze blade) at the 1999 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am, a tournament that Payne went on to win that week having never used the putter before then. A few months later Payne won the US Open at Pinehurst, sinking an 18-foot putt on the final hole to win by a shot, using the same FGP, in what is widely regarded as the most dramatic winning putt in US Open history. Hicks was also with Payne and the SeeMore FGP putter later that year for the USA’s dramatic win in the Ryder Cup at The Country Club of Brookline. Hicks was Payne’s caddie and friend for over 10 years, including that memorable US Open, and he has been featured this week on the NBC Special feature documentary film on the life of Payne Stewart.
As one of many featured putting instructors with the SeeMore Putter Institute (SPi), Hicks now offers any golfer living in the Pinehurst area or travelling there, the opportunity to enjoy Mike’s insights on putting with a once in a lifetime tour putting lesson from one of the most respected caddies on the PGA Tour. Hicks has recently opened a putting studio located at Mill Creek Golf Club in Mebane, NC. Clients have driven from a 500-mile radius to learn the putting techniques of Hicks, or flown in from locations around the world to tie in a visit to Mike along with a Pinehurst golf trip. Hicks has the ability to give a lesson on the outdoor putting green at Mill Creek or in his indoor putting studio with walls that are lined with Tour memorabilia. Or, with enough time to plan, Mike will look to meet his students wherever it works best for them.
Hicks also caters to the junior golfer. With firsthand knowledge of caddying on the PGA Tour, Hicks has seen how important a consistent putting stroke needs to be. A SeeMore putter and SPi give Hicks a simple method to teach all ages. To schedule a putting lesson contact Mike Hicks directly at hcksey@yahoo.com.
In His Own Words – Mike Hicks – “After 33 years of experience on the PGA Tour and working with the world’s best golfers, I have seen what it takes to get there. My putting system is simple but very effective. It is centered on the fundamentals of golf (posture, stance, alignment and grip). I have been teaching this system for over 17 years. Watching Payne Stewart win with the putter in 1999 at the AT&T Pebble Beach and US Open at Pinehurst just solidified how well the putting system works.
I will show you how to play to your strengths and work to improve your weaknesses. You will learn how to practice correctly on the putting green and practice tee. Drills that I have learned from being on the PGA Tour will become part of your regime. You will be taught how to prepare for upcoming events like I have seen so many times in my career on Tour.
Why I play and teach with a SeeMore Putter – The SeeMore is not just a putter it comes with a system, it also gives you a way to putt if you will. The RifleScope Technology (RST) makes sure your set up the same every time. This technology provides a consistent starting point. Once a student gets aimed correctly and hides the red dot a light seems to go off in their head and they become better immediately!!
I have been fortunate enough to witness golf at the highest level inside the ropes. Let me help you get to your highest level of play whether it be college golf or professional golf.”
SeeMore Putter Institute
SeeMore has launched the SeeMore Putting system to golfers in the form of introducing the SeeMore Putter Institute (SPi), where golfers and instructors will be able to come together in person and online to share these fundamental ideas about how to improve putting performance. Presently over 315 global instructors are utilizing SPi to generate more lessons, more revenue and more game improvement!
SPi is a learning system based on the simple fundamentals of finding the proper grip, alignment, stance, and posture. This allows for a natural, free, and simple putting stroke on each and every putt. It is based on the technology built into the SeeMore putter itself, and on the refined teachings of SeeMore Global Ambassador Pat O’Brien. O’Brien has worked with Zach Johnson, and many other PGA Tour and developing players. O’Brien has been teaching the SeeMore System around the world for more than 14 years, ever since he watched his good friend, the late Payne Stewart benefit from the SeeMore putting system to win 1999 US Open and lead the tour in putting statistics that year.
Becoming SPi Certified will help golf teachers formulate a complete teaching plan to help their existing students and recruit new students to become great putters using the SeeMore system that has won 2 Major Championships and set numerous putting records on the PGA Tour. It is a complete game plan, which will give any golf instructor a new level of confidence in the proper teaching and fitting involved in putting instruction. Becoming certified to teach the system initially consists of online training, but also includes personal coaching.
RST Technology
SeeMore’s patented RST, known by a visible gun sight on the top line, allows the golfer to set up the putter perfectly each and every time in relation to the intended target line. This is accomplished by lining up the black bottom portion of the shaft between two white lines and covering a signature red dot on the heel of the top line. The process is like locking radar onto a target. The two parallel white sight lines frame the shaft and serve as an indicator that the golfer is in perfect position to make a consistent and reliable stroke.
